Hi all. ive had this magna for years as my daily driver. when i got it, it had about 120,000 on it and stock as a rock. Ive done a few things here and there to it. i got a set of 17' rims for it with toyo proxys 205x45 on it from a mate. had them on and off over the years. otherwise i just have the stocks on. The factory muffler at the back was rusting off so i put a uni sports muffler with a dump tip and cut the muffler in the middle out and put a straight pipe, gave it a nice note. its got a 5spd man gear box.
the thin plastic strips on the rear lights were falling off so i replaced it with mirror finish strips of stainless steel. heres a few pics tell us what you think.

thanks mate, yeah about the lowering. ive never got around to it. been pretty busy restoring an old 1970 Dodge phoenix. might do it one day, wouldent be bad having the ride abit stiffer

man_elite
12-09-2010, 06:41 PM
i been told yes before but you'll need to make a passenger mount and a passenger cv bracket

63 will fit with mods but yeah you could always change the makuni carby and put something better, I ran a holley 4 barrel 465 on my sigma. Just had a spare manifold i hacked with a grinder and a welder to put the adapter plate on, also did a cam-regrind to compensate on the fuel side and ran a full exhaust system. Another option for carby without blowing the budget.

You can turbo a 2.6, I did. No change out of 10 grand if you want it decent. Check out LOUD1's 1992 TR Turbo (my old car) for ideas. But like other have said, 4G63 would be your better option.

Also can remove the balance shafts as mentioned above, they weigh heaps and on a magna, they rotate at twice the RPM, so you can either remove them and/or fit a Mitsubishi Canter oil pump as they came out Pre-harmonic balancers so you dont need to use the removal kit. Also come with a bigger cog to lower the RPM of the pump to almost a 1 to 1 ratio which will help prevention of your oil airating at higher RPM.

i did it with the motor out, i had to replace the timing chain anyway. i noticed a very slight increase in idle vibration. but for the extra go i got from it, it was well worth it.

im a big fan of the 4g63 convertion having done 2 of them myself, not nessasary turbo either, a na dohc 4g63 is pretty quick in a magna, and there cheap too if you know where to look for them, my last one came out of a 94 hyundai sonata, cost me under 300 bucks with wiring loom, the magna clutch and box fitted up to it perfect.
this is whats required after that
customise passenger side engine mount
customise passenger side cv intermidiate shaft, or build a mount to suit it (both pretty easy to do)
join exhaust (pretty simple and cheap at an exhuast shop, can be cut and shut just past the flex pipe off the hyundai
and wire in the sonata harness (this can be a bit tricky to do, and hard to get a wiring diagram for yet i can supplie diagram if needed.

drives so much smooth with bigger and better power delivery for longer., makes the magna the car mitsu should of made.

Just go the 63, I did.
But ensure the engine is fine before trying to get decent power out of it... or any

edit: by the way, nice car!
