I'm sure there are people on the forum that have done it.
I've ordered my aftermarket steering wheel as well, not here yet, but I hope that it isn't that hard.
I think you should confirm if you have the right Boss Kit.
EDIT: Missed the part about your Cruise Control, I'm not sure if it's possible with your Altera then.
I cheated and bought an authentic leather VR-X one from Mitsubishi. :D
Exact same as is pictured in my avatar, and I got to keep my airbag etc.

its straight forward,
but with the boss kit you have, you will have NO horn and NO cruze.
you will have to rewire your horn, and as for your cruze... ummm. its gone.

"NO" i said, you have to modify the boss to suit the mitsu horn. if you just bolted it on, you will have no horn. if you modify it a bit (run another wire) you have a horn.

Is it that hard to get it connected? My steering wheel just arrived. :D
Same style as Booya's and I'm going to fit it tomorrow.
Hehe, my last exam tomorrow afternoon, then I'm free to mess around with it. Got to get back to studying.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but how much did they set you back?
And the ones in your avatar, are they the same ones painted or totally different? They look mad. :P

The dials you mean? My avatar is just a pic I scanned off of a Mitsubishi Magna's Accessories brouchure, I think they must be the Ralliart dials.
The one's in my car are just white and set me back around $200 fitted.

$200 fitted is a much cheaper price than alot of the others, is it the same as an EL-Dial?
No, the dials are white, and the green light shines through from the back. (They don't glow as such).
Similar to the VR-X / Sports ones, they are white with a red light from the back.

Are they easy to fit? Did you watch them do it? :)
With the green light coming out the back does it mean you changed the bulb behind the dials (if there is one)? So is the $200 kit just the face dials or like a set of some sort?
Thanks!

total price $520, dam out of my price range...but if I had that sorta cash, I'd prolly try and fit an EVO lancer sports steering wheel with factory airbag if it fits a magna :D

I got home after finishing my exams and planned to install my new steering wheel.
So I start taking the stock wheel apart, but it's too dark to see in the garage. So I rummage around to find a torch, of which I found a 6 year old one without batteries. So I scavange around the house looking for AAA batteries, finally realised that I could pull some out of the remote, I do that. The torch decides that it will only work intermittently, it's on for 2 minutes then turns off, shake it and move it a bit, and it comes on for another while.
Okay, all ready again, I go down to the garage and find out that the screws on the side of the steering wheel are buggered, but I manage to remember that I had some nifty tool that I bought with a really really deep phillips head screwdriver bit on it. After heaps of effort I manage to take the two screws out.
Then, after I take the horn bit off my stock steering wheel I realise to proceed I need a rachet tool, but I also realise I don't own one. :headbange
So after all that bloody effort to get nowhere I have to wait until tomorrow after work to buy a rachet set. Friggin' pisses me off.
This is a long useless post which I just wanted to get off my chest, you have essentially wasted 1 minutes and 46 seconds of your life reading it, of which you will never get back. MUAHAHHAHHAHHAHA!!!

I had a similar problem with the stupid little screws in the horn bit. one came out easy as, but the other decided that my good ld phillips head screwdriver would make the nice star a god damn round thing. so after trying with flat blades and about 20 other screwdrivers I think to myself stuff it where's my drill. So I proceed to drill the damn screw out and to my suprise it actually worked. the head came off and then the horn bit came and it was all good.

I can't get the horn to work like you guys were saying. Any advice on how to "mod" the hub so I can get it to beep?
Thanks, my car currently has no steering wheel.
