Ive read that the standard TH/TF alternator puts out about 110amp.
I want / need more!
Any sugestions as to replacement alternators?
Also Im thinking maybe dual batteries?
Any thoughts on ... How? Where? What?

i would suggest that if you want a dual battery setup, id see a professional 4WD centre, cos they do heaps of dual battery conversions.

Why do you need a dual battery? if your running heaps of sound gear, why not get a capasator or two ? :?

what are you running off your battery?? that requires so much POwer??

You don't need dual battery. If you running heaps of gear of of your battery you need to upgrade your alternator and perhaps get a cap for you sound system.

Im not sure what altenators could be used... I'll ask around.

Stinger make a huge arse gold alternator - about 600 bucks i think - puts out a fair bit of power!!

I would be looking at replacing the battery first, the 110 amp is quite big, the battery is about 400cca. If you get an Optima battery of nearly the same size it will be 850cca.

Um after a cheap alternative.

I have the Carputer and cameras running while im in the shops etc (without the car cover on) to record any body snooping around the car...
The screens wont be on but the cameras and carputer are (so about 130w 5A)

Granted I dont use everything at the same time...
But it is mainly at night when I would need the most amount of power...
Also sinceI have a SemiAuto I cannot roll start if I drain the battery,
so that is why I was thinking of a dual setup...
I reckon if I moved the water fill bottle (Gees how many Litres are in that thing? it is freaking hugh, dont you agree?) and the PS resoviour I could put the extra battery next to the power stearing pump. Mave to be a small one, maybe a drycell.... The weight over the front wheels would help with traction maybe? :)

Oh I have heaps of space for the ride.... But I like to see it finished before posting...
I will then have "as you go pictures" as well as completed.
I want to not post them up until I have finished cause I have a few unique things, and I guess I feel if I post them then other will copy them and maybe have them comleted before I get mine up.

Anyone can have these great mod ideas but it is the person who does it first and shows it that people remember... therefore when the person with the idea finally gets the money and the time to do it.. people say you coppied them.. Disapointing :(
I love my magna /s and I put a lot of time into working out the best way for it to look, and then saving the money to try and do it.
I dont want to sound that Im trying to toot my own horn... I just want my car to be unique for a little while and not for people to think "he just copied that idea from XYZ"

Im not really into BlingBling.
I was going to paint it metalic Dark Grey (That light black Mitsubishi Colour), the same as my TE 4cyl but was convinced out of it, as the origional TH Sports is white.
Mind you I wasnt really into white cars...... But with all the mods and the colour coding I have been turned.

ATM I am waiting on the 13" screen and mobo to arive...
I am using a VIA MiniITX 933mhx CPU at the moment with 40gb HDD CDRW/DVD combno drive and 512mb RAM.
Im getting the P4 and mobo in a couple of weeks and from a different place the 13" TFT TV LCD with remote.
I have the EL Mirrors on the car but I havent down the wiring yet. nor the wiring for the RED EL wire feature. (This week for that little job)
I have hooked up the LED Washers.
I wanted to sort out the battery/alternator problem before I got too carried away with all the electrical mods... incase they all be run.
I got the 5.6" TVT LCD TV on Friday and again want to install them during the week (If im allowed, But I did promise the girlfriend to do work around the house... And GF comes first cause the car will always be there.)
I have to wait till the car gets registered before I can do alot of the mods since Im sure some/most are not... um er "allowed" :)
So the big weekend after the car is registered will be MOD day.
1 - Wheels and lowering (swap from my TE to the TH)
2 - Put back on the colour coded wipers.
3 - Install the 5.6" TFT. (you will see why it could be "not allowed")
4 - Arange the window tint (hmmmmmm)
5 - connect all the pretty lights :)
6 - Work on the speaker enclosures (Prob going to put 1 each side in the boot facing front... any comments? )
7 - Mod the glove box to fit in the Carputer more snuggly.
8 - Workout LCD Goose neck mounting location.
9 - Gearbox MOD...(This you guys will LOVE)
10 - Iron out of bugs (and not just in the front mesh :) )

I have been told that even if you car is Black and you paint them gloss black that you can get in trouble. So Im just making sure that while it is having its tests done I keep it as stock as possiable.... besides the whopping front and rear spoilers :D .

Here are the steps you need:

Go To Repco - Buy A Battery Charger

Go To Bunnings and get a long long extension cord

If neccessary, you can buy two or three long long extension cords and connect them together.

plug it into the wall

or alternatively

Buy Roof Racks from Mitsubishi

Go To Dick Smiths and buy Solar Panels

Connect It Up to the battery and park in the sun

I gather your car PC is running off an inverter? Will the invertor automatically shutdown if the input battery voltage drops to low?

Alternatively (with a lot of work), you could hook up some Volt Meter to the parallel port then set it up to the PC shuts down if the voltage drops too low.

The Car PC runs from direect DC..
The powersupply is a DC-DC PSU.
I dont have a shutdown setup... but I have set the Power option in XP to automatically hibernate after 30min

You putting shift switches on the steering wheel for your auto mod Tbutcher? Just a matter of some wiring and a couple of microswitches conveniently placed. Pretty cool though if it is,would do it myself if i had a "tiptronic" style box ;)
