hi all,
i have a tn magna sedan, carby of course,
its in bad shape, my cam chain has had it, but it still works :), however i seemed to have snaped my altinator belt and want to replace it my self. i have inclded a photo,
my question is, once i get a new belt how do i put it on ? and someone write a step by step if they have donde it before or direct me to someone who can help me out
I cant write anything up to detailed atm... it's straight forward though... you need to loosen the alternator so you can slip the belt around the pulley and then tighten it... if you have powersteering, the belt also neds to go around the powersteering pump's pulley.
to loosen the alternator, make sure bolt A (in picture) is loose - this locks the alternator so it cannot move
You keep turning Bolt B (not sure if it's clockwise or anticlockwise), whichever way it is, you'll see the alternator move closer to the crank pulley... once you've moved it enough to put the belt on, move the alternator back using Bolt B until the pulley as a deflection is about 9-10mm (see picture)... then lock it in place by retightening Bolt A...
if you need to take the other belt off to get this one on... same principals apply... the tightening adjustment thingy for the other belt is on the idler pulley... you'll find it
hope this helps, if anyone else wants to add anything - go ahead
