Theres a Ralliart Diamante Im going to check out this weekend. I would like to know If the front bumper and rear wing from a TJ VRX would slip straight on the 2003 ralliart. I know some of you are going to say why ruin a perfectly good Ralliart but I personally think I would be giving an ugly duckling a well deserved make over. What I want is car that looks like a VRX but drives like a Ralliart.

Pretty sure the wing will be a straight swap, the mounting holes are in the same position AFAIK. Front bar will also be a direct swap, you will have to do the whole bar the ralliart is completely different whereas the VRX is just an additional lower section onto a standard one

If the wing is a straight swap and the holes line up ill be happy. The wing is my biggest problem.

Ralliart diamante? Is that the same as our TJ ralliart? You would need to change the flares as well as they are different, ralliart ones start from the top of the front bar unlike vrx.....

Its a TJ Ralliart mate. Ther called Diamantes in NZ. What are flares? do they go around the wheel arch?

Yes the flares are different between the models. VR-X flares come down further on the front. Not sure if you could mod the VR-X ones to fit the Ralliart sideskirt or not.

Afaik the Ralliart wing has an extra mounting hole in the middle of the boot. Otherwise the outside four holes are the same.

Yea i though so, its just i wasnt aware that any ralliarts were exported (since they only made 500 of them!).... Yea the flare goes around the wheel arch. As mentioned above you might have slight issue with vrx flare not aligning properly with ralliart side skirt....

This is starting to sound expensive. Does anyone have any ideas how to plug the holes in the boot if I went wingless?

I de-winged my one (it had ugly gt wing, being 18 & on my P's i thought it was an awesome idea to put one on lol), anyways you ll need to weld the holes, fill & paint the boot lid.

The Ralliart & VRX wheel arch flares are different. Not only are they longer but the Ralliart ones are wider (top to bottom) than the VRX ones. So I doubt if the VRX ones would match up well with the Ralliart side skirts.

As for the boot holes, you'd be better off picking up a VRX or wingless boot lid from a wreckers and then selling your Ralliart boot/wing (or keep it in storage for when you sell her).

i'd do a good check before you buy it, according to Redbook NZ http://redbook.co.nz/vehicle/specs.php?id=382975 the Ralliart Diamante only has 155kW and 316Nm of Torque. i.e. stock TJ Engine. Just worth checking.

I'd say they may have accidentally sourced their info from a regular TJ. Redbook NZ lists the Ralliart Diamante kerb weight at 1445kg, whereas Redbook AU lists the Ralliart kerb weight at 1470kg...

I Think Redbook has stuffed up. The ralliart is such a rear animal no one in NZ knows what one is. $10,500 asking price with 54000 km on the clock sounds pretty good. dont you think?

In regards to the "wing situation", try contacting "IH8HSV" he has done the reverse with his VR-X. He replaced his "VR-X wing" with a Ralliart wing a while ago. He'll should be able to tell you if they line up, which from looking at his car on the weekend, they appear too.

I test drove a mivec about 3 years ago before I bought the 380 and to tell you the truth I wasnt that impressed. The engine had no toque compared to the 380s. If you get a chance to go in a manual Diamante do it, They go a heap better than the autos do. Maybe the one I test drove was stuffed?

Might be a different story if you could get hold of a Ralliart Galant motor with the Mivec 3.8L.

The mivec i have is definitely more powerful than my old 3.5l diamante (magna) by a long shot, torque off the line feels the same, then its alot better right through the rev range, especially when you get to the 6000rpm mivec point, where the 3.5l would be dieing, and it pulls hard to 8000rpm. Did you take the one you drove to 6000rpm plus? the 3.8l mivecs only have the extra lobes on the intake side and are more for economy. The mivec engine is definitely designed to be used higher up in the rev range, took awhile for me to get used of it, but once ya do....
