Hi Guys,
I can turn the motor over for as long as you like, but not even a hint of starting.
Took the spark plug out and rested it on the manifold, and it had a strong spark, but the plug was dry, no sign of fuel. Fuel tank half full, can feel fuel flowing through the return line whit the ignition ON.
Turn the ignition ON, and all the dash gauges & warning lights come on and then go out.
Have checked all the fuses, in the foot well and under the bonnet, beside the battery. Have had the battery on charge over night.
Are there more things to check that would stop the injectors from squirting the fuel into the cylinders.
Regards
Rob

Immobilizer maybe.. it cuts fuel to the car

If you were in SA I have a modified ECU that I keep for testing purposes.. it has the immobilizer locked out so will start if it's faulty.

I wonder if anyone in Queensland has one of these ECU's laying around

Hi Neo,
is there a way I can test the immobilizer in my car, or buy another, are they exspensive, trial and error job.

is the orange engine light before you crank the motor? if it comes on for a couple secs then turns off it good. if it comes on for a couple sec and turns off, then turns back on again, you defs have a immob issue.

Well, any good auto electrician should be able to test it for you. They'll direct you back to mitsubishi to fix it, quote should be around $1000 to fix it.

Or Madmagna or Steve Knight might be able to flash you a new ECU that you'll be able to link up to your imob and bem :)

timming belt?

likely it wouldnt crank at all, or it would sound f*****

on the other hand it could easily be the crank angle sensor, but due to the fact you have a sprark, that it also unlikely

HI Bellto,
15.1 quater mile thats good, the best mine has done is 17.3.
I swaped the crank angle sensor with one off a friends car, but it still will not start, do you have any other ideas.

so you have removed the timing belt etc when swapping the cas?
other than that in my opinion it has to be the immob. send madmagna a pm and ask him about these immobilisers. like i said previously, becasuse it is a te, it has no bem (key and ignition etc etc controller) they just have the ecu and a few different modules. this means if it is you immob unit, you may be able to get away with getting another unit from the wreckers and swapping it, without having to get another key, and new locks etc.

ps, she should be good for a 14.7 now.. hehe

Hi Bellto,
I did not have to remove the timming belt to swap the crank angle sensor, just took the balancer off, did not turn the crank at all. So the timming belt setting should be OK.

cool, if its sparking it has to be a fuel problem, as i said, send madmagna a pm and ask what i said to ask about the immob, thats your best shot. there may even be a way to bypass it

Definately immobiliser as it sounds like all other suspects have been checked. There is a known bad wiring above the driver footwell for immobiliser. Try turning it over whilst wiggling the wiring loom above your feet. This worked for me before getting the wire resoldered

With immobiliser on the fuel delivery is cut so will still get a spark
