I'd be using a 5w or 10w minimum on a standard 380 motor.
0w-40 in hotter months will almost guarantee no oil pressure at idle.

Should of mentioned, Oil weight will be a opinionated topic. It is fine to use, It's just that I'm very cautious with low vis oils in a 6G7 motor.

The recommended oil for my 380 is the 10w-50....according to Sprintex.

But every 5,000k's. Idle definitely noticeable after an oil change.

0w-40 is a monumental waste of money in a normal 380.

I last used Mobil 1 years ago when it was $45 for 5L. Its now $90 or so. The cost is hard to justify in a street car/commuter and you will be tempted to keep it in there for a long time. You are better off using a dino oil of the recommended grade and change every 5,000 Km.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I run the Mobil1 0w40 in my evox BUT in all the G674/75 that I have/built I recommend a 5W40 or 10w50 oil depending on how the engine is going to be driven.

Im currently running Penrite HPR10 (10w50) in my magna.
I see no need to run a "full" synthetic oil in a naturally aspirated engine like the magna/380 UNLESS the car is going to be pushed hard at the track or pulling continuous high revs in hot conditions.

I'm with Mecha, been using Mobil 1 5W-50 at $65 a pop from Big W for some months now. Except for one change a while back where I tried Nulon Street & Track 15W-40 to see if it reduced my annoying engine ticking noise. Made no difference at all, so went back to the Mobil 1 (at $20 less for 5 litres).

I run stop start Sydney traffic and all so I prefer the full syn but Jason I truly value your input considering the work you have done on the 6G75 development

I see your point but in my opinion unless your running that oil for the whole 15000km service interval then full synthetic is a bit of a waste of $$ (especially if your using a quality syn oil) on a NA engine if its purely used for everyday street driving only.

At the end of the day if your using a good quality oil (of the correct viscocity) then that is all that matters :)

Ow is the cold flow properties, got nothing to do with hot viscosity. In fact, Mobil 0w40 is pretty thick at 13.5cSt at 100'c.

In terms of oil pressure, the lower oil pressure = higher flowrate
the better protection it is at cold start.
