View Full Version : Installing parabolicd headlights
Hey Fellas,
Just wondering when you buy parabolic head lights, do u get the entire "light pod" including the glass and body, or do u just get the parabolic insert and use the original glass and body. Are the electrical connections the same on normal headlights and parabolic lights? i am looking to install them onto a 99TH magna
cheers!

There's one and two piece units available. It's either one who unit or the indicators are seperate. You don't swap just what's behind the plastic.

You can't use the parabolic insert with original non-parabolic glass as the non-parabolic head
light has the diffuser and beam shaper on the glass and parabolic headlights have clear glass
where the parablic reflector does the diffusing and beam shaping.
There are two types for the 3rd gen, either the verada ones or the Sports/VRX ones. The
Sports/VRX ones have the parking light in the headlight and the Verada ones have the parking
light in the bumper. Besides that, the other wiring connections should be the same.
You need to make a minor rewire to get the Parabolics to work in a car that wasn't made with them, there are a few on here that have made the change, I am but one of them
I've done it after getting instructions from DVS, the re-wiring is easy. :D
cheers guys. Whats the difference between 2nd gen and 3rd gen parabolic headlights?

the 2nd gen parabolics are for cars like mine (see my little piccy avatar).
The 3rd gen parabolics are for cars like yours (ie. TE-TJ).
They are NOT interchangable, they are of completely different design....
Oh and this is completely unrelated to the one-piece and two-piece parabolics that Redav mentioned.

Theres heaps of threads about what they are and how to install them. Just search for parabolics. :)
