Hi friend needs to replace battery in his 2007 380GT and wants to know what he should replace it with - eg best value and performance etc

If you could recommend brands/models/approx price that would be great.

also, his car is all stock with no special audio etc.

thanks
mark

Batteries wear out no matter what you pay for them. Get the cheapest with the correct cca rating, with 12 month warranty.

Actually, I disagree. Make sure he gets a reasonable battery with good CCA rating - above the standard. There are many here who have had a rash of inexplicable problems traced back to the battery. Problems including random starting failures, auto transmission issues etc.
It seems to be a specific issue for the 380 - it needs a good battery.

get the physically biggest one that will fit is my rule of thumb.

well I have a Repco Heavy duty (rated 520cca) sitting in mine. Havnt had any problems with it. It was around $170 last year. The minimum rating is 460 CCA. Try and get somthing decent and reliable.

The stock batter/recommended is 600cca. Though to be fair that value can be somewhat misleading.
cca= cold cranking amps i.e the number of a amps a battery can maintain @ 0 degrees Celsius for 30 seconds. I figure unless you are somewhere freezing you probably aren't going to need all that anyway. I'd think that reserve capacity would be a more important a factor.

that said, closer to/higher than to 600 is defs better.

I haven't *yet* had any problems starting up my car.

My last 2 Bosch batteries have lasted 6 and then 7 years. Not sure who makes them but they are made in Australia. Probably made under licence. Good return in terms of dollars per year.
