Hi Guys,

I have this small issue with the 380 which is driving me absolutely crazy.

When my car goes over bumps or I turn into a drive way on a slope, I hear creaking coming from the far left hand corner of the dash where the windscreen is.

I will post some pics up shortly, but what would be causing this? Sounds like some bolts need to be tightened, but I dont know where to start lol.

Cheers

Braedz,

I've been fooled by simlar sounds that turned out to be coming from nowhere near where I thought they were coming from.

So just because it 'sounds' like it's coming from the far left corner of the dash doesn't mean that's the real source of the noise. Cars can be funny that way.

In your case, it might just be your left (passenger) side front sway bar bush has worn out, that's the first thing I would check. Check 'em both while you are at it.

My 'mystery noise' was an intermittent rattly buzz or buzzy rattle every time I drive on rough roads, coming from somewhere around the far left of the dash and/or the left front door skin. Been driving me nuts from day one of ownership, nearly two years ago.

Spent many hours dismantling, fiddling, reassembling, packing with foam the speaker grills, the trim pieces, the glove box lid and the door skin. Must have taken the door skin off half a dozen times!

By sheer accident, about two weeks ago, I touch the interior rear view mirror in a certain spot (on top, just left of centre) and it rattled, with the same sort of buzzy noise!

I couldn't see any way of fixing this rattle (no loose screw anywhere), but I fiddled with the mirror anyway. I tilted it out a bit and rotated it 180 degrees to have a good look at the top if it, then rotated it the remaining 180 degrees back to normal.

Hey presto, buzz/rattle gone!

I have no effing idea how doing what I did fixed the buzz/rattle, but it fixed it.

And all the time I thought it was coming from the left front corner of the cabin, miles away from the rear vision mirror.

No worries, I will get the swaybar bushes looked at, I am pretty certain that the noise is coming from inside the car though.

I had the same issue as you with the rear view mirror, I got it replaced under warranty though.

I know a 380 that had a rattle in the same spot when interior was cold, and sometimes when going around corners on uneven surfaces.

Mitsubishi replaced the windscreen under warranty.
(car is a S3 Vrx.)

Finally found out what was causing this noise. I am pretty sure I owe Blackstar a beer for suggesting to look at the windscreen.

The noise was coming from outside the car where the plastic (Down the bottom located next to windscreen wipers) was rubbing on the windscreen. The plastic was a little bit loose, securing the plastic stops the noise from occurring.

TH/TJ magna sedans used to suffer a similar noise from the rear windscreen... used to drive people nuts. I reckon 2 out of every 10 new magnas that i used to drive over the "rumble" test section of the test track at Tonsley used to make the damn creaking sound.... Took until the TL to sort of remedy the noise.
