I know this will make me sound like a dill, but how do you disconnect the pos/neg leads from that little black connector under the 6x9's in the boot? I have a 2003 TL VRX AWD. There is a clip on the side of the connector body that appears to lock in one of the plugs, but even when I pull this free, the connection won't free up, just stays stuck hard! Frustrating.... any ideas out there?

Hmm... I would say just cut the plug straight off - unless you're opposed to butchering? Are you trying to fit new cable, new speakers or doing something else altogether?

Just replacing the speakers, and no, I'm not into butchering. There has to be an easy way of disconnecting these leads, surely someone has done it out there, TL owners must have replaced rear speakers before.....

I had the same problem a few weeks ago when replacing the speakers in the TH. In the end i think it was brute force that got the connector off the first one and i cut the speaker wire for the 2nd one.
Reason being that the connectors won't fit onto aftermarket speakers (at least on the TH) as the terminals on the standard speaker are at right angles to each other and are both the same size.
Just as easy to cut the connectors off and fit the correct terminals to the speaker wire. I'll see if i can find a picture explaining what i mean.

Well, I've replaced the rears in my TL and TBH you'd be better off cutting the plugs. The plug is only suited to the factory 6x9s as far as I could tell. Once you remove the plugs you can then attach +'ve and -'ve spade connectors which will suit all aftermarket 6x9s.
