its on the passenger side kick panel
about the same height as the glove box but to the left
you pull back the carpet first remove the plastic cover in the doors edge
the ECU has a few screws but also is mounted on a metal bracket screwed to the chassis
two plugs of wiring
whats the problem ?

Driving along and the motor appears to lose power, like no spark or fuel, sometimes just for a second and other times for 3 or 4 seconds and then runs ok again, the problem is starting to get worse.
I have checked the wires to the distributer for corrosion and power tranny and they are ok.
Have had the injectors cleaned and checked the fuel pump and relay as well.

Check your plug leads. If they are ok, get yourself an ignition coil and power transistor from the wreckers, before you replace the ECU.
Run out of fuel pressure gives you a splutter before the engine cuts out, ignition fail is very sudden without warning. Which is it?

Cuts out suddenly and then cuts back in. Only happens Randomly.

sounds like coil or the little exciter next to it
if the ecu was faulty it wouldn't start
or you would have other problems
there is a diagnostic plug for the engine systems near the coil
its round black with 4 pins to it might even have a cover

need and LED tester or a volt meter...
both read very fast take out some guess work

check the wiring plug to the dissy
it usually corrodes the pins
they need a good contact
give the whole plug to the dissy a wiggle
the engine vibration can cause
the same problem as you describe
in the dark pop the bonnet with the motor running
look for arcing in the plug leads and coil wire
other possible causes
faulty plugs
the dissy module
faulty ignition switch
a fuel filter blockage
water in the fuel filter

Fixed the problem, appears to have been the motor position sensor on the top of the idle speed motor.
