Recently I asked Marty ( FHRX ) for an Alpine head unit. Due to the lack of them ( not even lifestyle had them ), I instead settled for the Pioneer DEH- P5650mp. Fhrx tried for a week to get me the headunit I wanted and short of travelling 8 hours to get one, I told him not to. He then travelled 2 hours to my house just to install this headunit. I would also like to point out that he charges by the hour $60.50 ( industry standard ) and since it only take an hour for the magna it only cost me that amount. The wiring loom is the neatest that I have ever seen, and he was more careful then I would have been with my car. We had a good old chat then boom, we fired up the headunit and everything was sweet :D .

Dont be afraid of asking FHRX and others ( like manual ) questions. My first sterio was a Panasonic tape player ( 40W x 4, 1 pre out, bass & treble control ) Alpine 6 disk changer with FM modulator, 2 way 6inch front ( unknown brand ), Sony 3 way 6x9's, BA 1000 4 channel amp, Linear 12inch 400W sub in 23Hz ported box ( later replaced with DVC clarion ). This sounded like shyt and before that I was going to buy $2000 worth of sony gear. This is because I did not ask and believed everything Strathfield said. Dont be afraid to ask stupid questions, after all it is only the net and this is how we all learn ( I know I ask my fair share of dumb questions ). So dont be afraid speak up and ask about brands like Brahma, ARC Audio, Audison, Becker, Boston Acoustics, Clif Design, Diamond Audio, Digital Designs, Dynaudio, Earthquake, Focal, Hertz, Image Dynamics, Infinity, MB Quart, Morel, Nakamichi, Phoenix Gold, Rainbow, Tru Technology, U-Dimension, Vibe, Xtant, Zapco to name a few.

We are all here to help!! Just that Marty has an Industry based on it - where as for me it's a hobby ;)

Hmmm, $60.50 an hour?? I think I am in the wrong industry!! haha But now I have a base on what the charge ppl (jks all)

Good to hear Marty is doing his usual - high end, exceptional installs - congrats!!

And Charisma - glad to hear you are happy with it!!

Don't forget that $60.50 includes ongoing skills training, workshop tools, workshop rent, professional liability insurance, advertising etc etc etc :D

Yeah well what about my ongoing skills training?? workshop tools?? i have to pay rent on my house ;)!! and i always offer a warranty - if i don't get it working - then it is the fault of the H/U and that only happened once when some one got me to install a $50 H/U from some cheapo place into an old old old merc - everything was find - excpet it just didn't work.  i blame the H/U - but they havent taken it back yet.

And i will normally call on the install a few weeks later to make sure all is going well still.

But that's just cos I am a nice guy ;)

Hey Marty - don't have a workshop in the west do you?? hahaha - if you can offer a better rate of pay then maybe i need to start looking into car audio installation hehehehe - maybe you can send some info my way in what is required from an employee POV and yeah - what the $$ is worth?? haha
