Recently got a lukey muffler for my car, you would have to ask Nemesis what one he actually got me, but i was wondering what else was a good idea to upgrade for it. I know i dont need to do much as it is the 2 1/4"(?) pipe, but anything else that would be worth upgrading on it?

Cheers,

extractors / headers, some people like hi flow cats personaly i dont think their worth the dollars, original piping was a decent size already so unless its getting old and you want new shiny piping or if you have holes in your pipe than i wouldnt bother with it

Thanks guys!

Driving around tonight looks like there might be something wrong with my cat anyways. Weird rattling sound coming from it under low revs and a bad egg smell

Might need to investigate more fully - a while back there were members with a rattle NEAR the Cat, but actually coming ffrom the merge of the engine pipes from front and rear engine banks - the "Y" piece..... a badly-welded baffle inside the junction (designed to decrease intereference and thus turbulence from each bank's exhaust flow) causes the rattle. If you listen carefully, or use a stethoscope - even a makeshift one - to ensure that its either the baffle just ahead of the Cat or else the Cat itself? No point spending money for new Cat if it is not req'd, or not teh cause of the rattle!

I think this is possibly what Dan was telling me about actually, but i think he said that the baffle might have snapped off and is rattling in the cat maybe? Got any ideas on how to get this fixed easily? Or would it be best to get it done by a mechanic?

Ah! That's a thought..... if a piece of baffle or large flake of rust has come loose, it could indeed be rattling against the face of the Cat lining stuff.

Basically, you'd have to try listening (car on ramps or hoist maybe) to locate where oyu think is rattling. A loose piece rattling in the cat - easy fix, unbolt Cat from merge pipe and remove any loose piece and check for damage to the Cat cores.

One fix suggested by Mal if the baffle is just rattling in the merge pipe - was to look on the outside of the pipe for signs of a spot weld (which was supposed to secure the baffle), Then carefully drilling a small hole at that spot to (hopefully) fing the edge of the baffle just inside your hole - obviously, you don't want to plunge your drill bit right thru and possibly deflect the baffle, you want to just come thru the pipe and expose the edge of the baffle......... which you then re-weld, filling your drill hole as you go. With my welding skillz (non-existent, basically) this would be a job for a professional.

Just a set of extractors, should do you fine....after that I'd look at a set of ralliart cams and a tune....make the most of it

Not sure Pauly, im looking more for the difference between the VRX exhaust and the TJII exhaust. I know the rear muffler is different, but is anything else? I say there should be a bloody sticky somewhere for this.... Comes up every few months

If there is anything, it's worth your hassle changing it for an apparent gain. Piping would be fine, and until you start pushing some decent power your meow will be fine aswell
