Hi,
Its displayed no problems and all the gears go in quite nicely, except going into first on the change down, which is stupid anyway so i normally just hold the clutch in once i get to 2nd and use the brake the rest of the way to 0.
But the friction point is very high. I barely need to press the pedal down to change gear. Does that mean its on the way out or is that just normal?

On a side note, does anyone have the part number of the one piece verada headlights, the ones with the circle lights? Magna_Chick said she bought hers for ~300. Is that still an accurate quote? Yeah, I know there's a headlamp thread, but its not in the FAQ.

For something to look at, heres a magna I found at hoxton park:

I saw it, and did a u-turn to come back and check it out and there was an asian lady out the front watering the garden and I tried to ask her about it, but she didn't speak much english, so I just took a photo and drove off.

Check the free play on your clutch, should be a cm or so of no resistance if you push the pedal by hand. If there isn't any adjust the rod from the top of the clutch pedal to the master clutch cylinder by shortening it. If the free play is OK, you may be getting the dreaded "Oh no, my clutch slips" syndrome of a shagged clutch very soon. How many Km on the car? I never downshift and use the gearbox to slow down, I figure brakes are easier and cheaper to replace than a clutch. lol

Nice picture, by the way. Someone likes spending money on their Magna!

The Exedy clutch, the 230mm plate will set you back $551.00 http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74076

If you have a high release point to where you describe, I would say likely that your clutch is worn, you dont want to let it go too far as when it slips, causes heat and cracks in the flywheel

The headlights, I have them in stock here, $250 for a pair of Plastic one peice ones in very good condition, PM me if you are interested in a set

Ah crap, I was hoping this wouldn't be the case.
God, I want those headlights more than anything in the world (yes, thats what my life has come to), but I suppose I should buy a clutch first. How much would a mechanic charge to fit it?
Whats the shipping on that clutch btw?

You are ok, but I don't think your clutch is. 199,XXX km is a good run, if its the original clutch. Soon time for a new one. It will start to slip, that will be a definite sign. That can happen quite suddenly, when the rivets run on the flywheel or pressure plate instead of friction material. You can (litterally) go from "It's ok" to "I need a tow truck" in an eye blink, I did with my TS lol (I'm assuming the 3rd gen clutch plate has the friction material riveted on like the 2nd gen)

As for cost, you need to ask a mechanic, or Madmagna might give a hint. Still cheaper than rebuilding an automatic gearbox though.

Shipping to most NSW locations will be $20 or so

Could be the original, have seen a few magna's with orig still in there at that age

200,000 km seems to be the "end game" for the Magna - a lot of things go wrong (or just wear out) at that time. That, and the need for the belt (etc) change is probably why 200,000 km is such a common mileage with for-sale-cheap second hand Magnas.:eeek:

mechanic will charge aywhere betweem 500 and 1000 in labour to fit a magna clutch. i was quoted up to 1200 because they simply didnt want to do it. its harder than a commo or falcon clutch, and not many people do them

I've done clutch replacements on VW bug, Holden, Sigmas and one Magna. Guess which made me sweat and swear the most? No, not the VW, even though the engine needs to come out to do it.
