so as title states ill be picking up the car on wensday morning and before i do i want to do a final inspection of the car, i know the mechanics at the shop are doing a blue slip check i just want to make sure it all good.

i got the usual rust, wheel play, lights all work, fluid levels and condition, plugs and leads for wear, any general signs of fluid leaks under the bay.

anything thing lse that i should be watching out for either common or not. money is tight and getting this car is abit off a push ( although a needed one) i just wanna make sure

cheers all

As the auto is the most expensive bit of the car, I'd check the colour and smell of the trans oil very closely....also check how it changes when it's hot. Check any records of servicing of the auto as well - I look for stickers on door jambs or the top of the windscreen for service details. If the coolant isn't bright green I'd also be worried. I guess you know all about timing belts etc.
Good Luck.

as above for the autobox.
Dive under the car and check all 6 rubber gaiters, 2 on the steering and 2 each side on the drive shafts. Move them around with your fingers and look for splits and cracks. These are an often neglected item.
Check its got a good spare, jack etc in the boot. These often get lost or a good spare is taken out of your car to be put onto another, and you are stuck with a baldy.
Check steering pump, hoses, top of steering rack for leaks. Might want to bring a bright torch. lol

Service record - look especially for timing belt changes at the correct time.
