I'm looking at a buying a TH Advance with 300,000 k's for $3990 from a dealer, its spend most of those K's driving on the highway, anyone one have a TH with those kind of K's? would it be worth buying or just trouble? those K's do scare me though, maybe if I got it for $3000 it might be worth it. A lady drove it from Bathurst to Orange for work every day.

I'd steer clear. For $4K there are alot more choices out there with half the k's. I'd give him $2500 max.

I wouldn't touch it with a 12 foot clown pole. For $4k, there is so much more. Just go to carsales.com.au, look for people selling their magnas for $5k and go through their cars for any faults and get them down to low $4kish

It's the sort of car that will have lots of use/age related problems, like sloppy steering, sagged drivers seat, shagged suspension, etc. If it doesn't blow smoke when hot, or have gearbox problems, and if the timing belt has been done, you may get 1 or 2 years out of it. But you won't enjoy driving it. Offer him $500 and walk away before he has a chance to answer. lol

Ask yourself this: How much $$$ would the car's previous owner have gotten for it as a trade in?

Dont bother buying a car with that many KM's...

Yes very true, its days would be numbered, it would need many $ spent in the next few years, better of keeping my KR Verada with 242,000 k's, and its going strong

Trouble is, in past days you could judge the worth of a car by the rust, faded paint and wear on the upholstery. Some crazy high Km Magnas still look as good as the day they came off the line, you just have to be more careful now and buy on Km and mechanical condition. I see plenty of 3rd gen Magnas in car yards at $4 to $6K, pristine to look at, but with 250,000 Km on them or more. I just walk away, overpriced and potential money sink for the unwary.

Im sure you could find a neat TH with under 180,000 km's for under 4k?

Thats very true as the TH Advance I was looking at looks great, even the paint is good, for some reason Mitsubishi must have used shit paint on the Magna's, as you see so many with bad paint even late TJ's. the interior looks great too, but with 300,000 its life is 90% over or more, I'll be searching for one with 150,000 K's max.

The SA boys that have seen my car can vouch i spose.

I bought a 2000 TH advance 3.5ltr Manual with 235,000ish K's Paid 4k for it was a country car and its alot better than the TE i bought with 120,000 on it a few years b4.

My TE has 270,000 kms and has been well maintained and looked after. I'm the 2nd owner. I have owned the car for 5 years, driven almost 90,000kms and it has never broken down. I do wanna get a TJ series 2 but they are hard to come by with low kms at $5,000 or less. So I'm keeping my TE and will save up for a TJ VR-X MY02 or later with low kms.

First time posting here guys, but thread is quite apt as I have just bought a 99 TH Altera (Sienna Red) with 180k's for $4k (pick up this weekend). Long reg (nearly 12 months), paint good as in interior....just needs a little TLC inside and out re detailing and she'll be a nice ride. It was a private purchase and compared to other's of the same age in the general area I live, it was not bad value for money.

So as this will be my second Magna (first was a 92 TR SE, which served me very well). When the need for a second car arose, I thought why not, did the Carsales.com thing and found her. Once I get her cleaned up (current owner not the most diligent of detailers, but didn't abuse her), I look to post some pics, but suspect I'll need to get my post count up first.

Cheers
