Hi, our heater blower fan has stopped working. Is there a simple fuse somewhere?
Cheers

If blower isn't working on ANY speed setting - then fuse is likely culprit and is the first thing to check. If you have the glove-box operators booklet, it should steer you in the right direction. There may also be a relay in the engine bay related to the blower motor, so check that as well (SWAP with another relay which you know to work well).
If the blower doesn't go on only one or two speed settings, most likely the settings you use most often, then there is a resistor pack which will be the culprit. It is usuallu somewhere under the glovebox area, will be a small plate that bolts into the air ducts (and has a wiring connector emerging from it). The speed of fan is varied by directing current thru different resistors, and the resistors (which look like coils of wire) are placed in the airstream to cool them down - clever! If one or more of the resistor coils burn thru, then fan won't run on that speed setting. Resistor pack is replaced as a complete unit, and I'd be looking to a wrecker for a replacement (expect the spare part might be pricey for what it is). This assumes you have manual air-con with teh 4 speed fan switch.

you wont believe it, but this happened in my te today.
i thought it may be a fuse etc (Yours may still be), but i took off the cover in the passengers foot rest, and hit the motor and it started working. for the last 2 years mine has been ticking, and it just stopped today, i could hit it and it would start, but as soon as i turned it off it wouldn't turn back on. it was the brushes.
test it by using a volt meter on the 2 wires going into the fan motor. do this while cycling through different settings. if it turns out to be this, go and find a recent magna, any third gen willl fit, and then just undo the 3 screws that hold it in (they are a 8mm spanner with a x head in the center) you will need the 8mm spanner to get the screw closest to the firewall off because of the angle its on. then remove, and replace with a new one. simple as that.
word to the wise, dont get one out of a te magna because they dont have the 8mm heads on the screw, which makes it 10000 times harder to get the scre closest to the fire wall out. the one i got was out of a tj, that was wrecked at 44,000kms, so practically new.
all of this is ofcourse if it is the blower motor.......

Thanks guys, all sorted. Pulled fan out and found the wire connecting the one of the brushes in the motor had worn through, must have been rubbing on the armature thingy.
Anyway, after destroying fan motor investigating beyond the aid of super glue, it was off to the wreckers, $65 later all good.
Cheers
