Just wanted abit of additional information about changing a rocker cover gasket, on past vehicles i have worked on some of them require silcon on the gasket. Is it best for me to put this on the new rocker cover gasket or just leave it dry??????
Thanks

Shouldn't be needed unless you want to keep the gasket in place on the rocker cover when you replace the cover. On the 2.6 no glue is needed as the seal sits in the cover snuggly. On the second gen V6 you really need to glue it down into the cover to stop it shifting, but I wouldn't use silasctic, I would use a quick drying sealant. Apply thinly to the cover with finger, put the gasket on and press down. When the gasket is held in place, put the cover on. On later engines I don't think you would need any, but it shouldn't hurt to keep it in place.
Quite easy to keep any on the 2.6 gasket too, to see if it leaks. The other engines, well . . . . . . .

Sweet as the last person that played with it put silasctic on it thats prob why it is leaking cause it was only touched about 4 months ago, just shows i would of been better doing it myself the first time rather then being lazy lol Thanks for your help :)

The seal tends to squash down over time. A new one actually stops the cover from touching the head, but when it squashes down it can allow a leak to start.

i tend to put RTV on the upper side of the gasket (into the rocker cover) and i let the rocker cover sit on the gasket for about half an hour to set. means when i go to apply it to the car there's less chance of it fallin out or something.
