Hey guys,

Just did a brake fluid flush on my car and started it up to take for test drive and the park brake light is staying on. I had a look and my wheels aren't locking up while im driving so im assuming its something electrical??? The only thing i also did was bounce my car up and down to check my suspension while the park brake was on but wouldnt think that would do anything.

Thanks heaps for advice

if that light is on could mean you dont have enough fluid. have you triple checked you have enough fluid?

The brake light on the dash goes on if there is a problem with your braking system, its not related just to the park brake, since you just changed your fluid I'm guessing you need to go and bleed all the wheels again and see if the light goes off.

If you can't sort it out please have it looked at as you don't want to kill your loved ones or someone in another car. It might feel like its working now but you want it to work well in an emergency.

Im wondering now how did you bleed it?! I've never had this issue. But also, comes on with low fluid level :)

Was it leaking out? Does it have ABS? did you do it with the car turned to ignition ON if it has ABS?

There was a little leak on one and yea it's got abs but didn't have ignition on- what does having the ignition on do?

according to the service manual to bleed an ABS system properly you need the ignition on, or car on. I didnt do this and it resulted in a bit of air still trapped in the lines. I re-did it with the car running and comes out perfect everytime. I do this all the time for ABS cars now

The float switch may have just got stuck when you replaced the cap first time round making the low level light come on even though your fluid level was ok..

What may have happened is that during the bleed process, the pedal has been pushed all the way to the floor. This then triggers the brake imbalance switch (inside the MC) which detects when one of the dual systems has failed. To reset this switch you need to firmly apply the brakes whilst the vehicle is stationary.
My TL doesn't have a low fluid level float in the master cylinder.
