Hi i have a 96 TE sedan 3ltr v6.
Problem: turning right the steering is nice and light and precise. However, turning left it becomes noticebly harder and very slightly jerky. Not a major issue but i have certainly noticed it recently. Any ideas??

Check fluid level in the power steering reservoir. Also check drive shafts for binding. How? Jack the car up and spin each of the front wheels, with the wheels pointing straight ahead first, then in left and right full lock, and look for tightness as you turn the wheel by hand.

I'd raise the front of the car so both front wheels are off the ground and try turning the steering wheel from one side to the other both with and without the engine running - if you get the jerkiness then it would point to a fault in the rack. Last time I had experience with something like this is was the steering rack outer bush badly worn allowing the rack to flop around in the housing.

Is the pressure valve in the rack, needs a new rack mate
