Hey guys,

I'm in a bit of trouble... my automatic has screwed itself - i can get it fixed but at a cost :(

the lock-up clutch is stuck... so when i come to a stop, my engine stalls...

so i have the following options:
*Fix the torque converter/lock-up clutch and hope the rest of the transmission lasts of a while
*get a reconditioned one
*get my trans reconditioned
*convert to manual

So i'm asking for someone's help... Does anyone have either a automatic or manual transmission (and all the parts needed) spare that they would sell really cheap... and would anyone who knows what they are doing help install or convert this car?

i could help you if you were in melbourne, i have an auto gearbox with no-one to love, it also has a torque converter with a fiew scratches on it aswell

definately get a manual conversion. it is well worth it... those auto trans are s%#t and i dont trust them to last. manual in itself will unleash abit more of the magna power :D

u have a TM don't u? try upgrading to a TN manual gearbox. they do fit, just abit bigger and stronger than the TM boxes, but hard to install apparently. if not, stick with a TM manual, mine has lasted and the synchros in every gear is fine. cept 3rd will crunch like once a month outta the blue. isn't too bad for a gearbox that's made the car travel 210,000km.

but yeah, thats my advice. pay abit extra and get the manual. much more trustworthy.

I'd love to convert it to manual... Just money is an issue... It will be cheaper if i did the work at home, but i haven't got a clue what or how to go about it (I've read the auto to manual write up in another thread)... I would like someone who knows something about it to help... I have auto ceritificate 1 but I just dont feel confident in doing it just yet... Plus I dont have and engine lifter to get the trans out of there or axel stands to get under the car...

why dont you send your spare auto to him brendan... he can pay postage and a few bob to you... easy done. you have no use for it
