So, my TJII auto tippy shifter needs tightening as it has come loose and no longer has the "solid" feel.

I know the basic procedure to remove it (pry off button, remove spring and plastic/rubber bit inside or whatever, take off the nut...)

Probably a stupid question with a simple answer, but, the question is, how the hell am I meant to tighten that nut with a socket? Reason for the question being that there's a thin bit sticking out from the middle of the where the nut is? So how am I meant to get a socket over the nut to tighten it?
