Greetings All.

Ok guys. Time to get me some new brake pads. Ive chosen to get some EBC Kevlar brake pads to replace my current ones on stock rotors. But im a little unsure on cost, and where i could get them from. Also im not sure if i should get the Black or Green ones. I mainly just do ordanary driving, but i dont want these pads to die quickly. Would they make much of an improvement?

Cheers,

Green on the front, and black on the back sound good??

Also look at getting your discs reground.. doesn't cost a lot of money but it can really improve performance. Before i had mine done (97 Verada) i had weird sounds coming from the discs and quite a bit of throbbing on hard breaking, but now all of that is gone.

Tonba,

First I might suggest determining exactly what sort of braking your doing. Then chosing the most suitable rotor/pad combination.

There has been much written on these forums regarding whats the best for certain situations, I suggest searching this first.
Secondly, what I have determined is EBC is an excellent pad but in terms of cost is best when used as a heavy braking alternative where high temp is an issue i.e. at the end of long down hill runs.

If your just using your brakes for normal stopping with the odd high speed stop I would suggest going for a bendix performax or ultimate as these will reduce fade on high speed stops and also provide good braking on daily drives. From what I gather, EBC are a high temp pad which is most useful in doing high speed stops regularly like at drag races. Unless your draggin, no need to go that way.

If your discs are shuddering under heavy stops, also get them machined, fit a high temp rating set of bendix and I think you will be fine for normal daily use.

Summary: dont go EBC unless you need to. Not saying theres anythign wrong with EBC, but probably overkill for what you need :)

Mark is right,

if your looking for a "street" pad, then your bendix performance is more then adiquate.

if your like me and become a boost junkie, where you race to the speedlimit, only to face that red light intersection 50m down the road, then jam on the stop pedal, over and over agian, which generate's a lot of high temp's, then you'd use something a little more "serious" like the EBC pads in question :)
