I thought while i was replacing all my plugs and leads i would clean throttle body and intake at the same time. So got it all done, bolted it all back together, and she runs smooth and nice, but its revving too high. It was revving at nearly 2000rpm, but i did the hold foot to floor for 30 secs with ignition at ON position and now its about 1200rpm.

Any ides what it could be? Accelerator cable isnt tight. I was thinking maybe it needs resetting the ECU or something as battery was disconnected. Also i removed the TPS sensor i think it is, the little Mikuni sensor that sits on the bottom of the TB facing the front of the car. It had white paint on the screws to show were it was sitting, pretty sure i put it back the same, could that maybe need tweaking a little to one side or something?

I know before i did it the car used to rev higher then it should but about 1000rpm maybe not this high. The revs drop when in gear though, down to about 800rpm, which i consider to be were the idle should be. I have read something on here about the TB butterfly needing to be open slightly or something and to measure it with a multi meter but i have no idea what thats about.

I dont really wanna play with idle screws unless they are wrong, but would prefer to make sure all else is ok before i go masking another problem.

There is an idle screw and a throttle stop screw, NEVER touch the throttle stop screw

Is poss as the TB is now clean you may need to back off the air screw a little there is nothing wrong at all with doing this

The TPS needs to be properly set, there is a thread getting around somewhere in AMC I did where it shows how to set the TPS and clena the TB properly

Yeah i think thats the same thread i read. I dont get what im supposed to do though. Put feeler gauges into the TB? or something and measure the voltage, do i measure the voltage with the TPS unscrewed(out)? I am a little lost thats all.
