This is cool. You were probably inspired by it but if you havent seen it check out the Toyota in America that had the first ipad install only a few days after it was released. The guy managed to get the Audio out of the charging plug, would be easier and look neater if you could do the same.

Really easy to get the pinouts for the ipod dock too, readily available on the internet.

Basically as I discussed in part 2 of the video, I cannot use the audio out because i do not have a way of controlling the volume - when you use audio from the dock connector it is "line out" and the volume control is disabled.

I have however come up with a solution which I am working on now using WiFi to transmit the signal using apple airplay technology - I am going to put an airport express in the car. I just need to pull one apart, rip out the 240V supply and replace it with a car => 5V,3.3V supply and should be good.
