I just got my pink slip and had to get a new muffler as it had a hole in the pipe right before the chamber.
I got a new redback performance muffler as the Lukey equivelant of the stock muffler was $50 more.
The sound is very quiet and i can only hear the exhaust under 2500 revs where it has a nice deep note.
I want to make my exhaust a fair bit louder and wondering what i should do?

I was thinking swapping the resonator with a hotdog? and keeping the stock pipes?
or,
should i replace the pipes with 2.5" mandrel bent in preparation for extractors and have the hotdog?
Will changing the pipes affect the sound greatly?

edit: its an auto

Don't need to chage the pipes unless they are getting rusty. They are already nearly 2.5" and unless you are going FI, stock piping is good enough.
As yours is auto, don't make it too loud otherwise it will drone.

well i spoke to the guy that did my exhaust becuase i was like you, wasnt sure what to do, keep the piping or can it

in the end i canned it so i got a custom exhaust done he said to me the best type of exhaust is a custom then u can change the setup the whateva preferences you want rather then a kit catback from redback etc

It cost me 420 all up from the cat back all new piping the centre muffler was removed and replaced with a small hotdog and a much smaller straight through design muffer at the rear compared to the stock and the bumper was cut to house a tip cos i have a sports. I can tell you that its very deep, yes mines auto and does drone a bit but tbh if windows are up and music on cant even hear it and it only drones at 2500 like sittiing on 100k's not around town at all as the revs sit at 1500. If your looking at extractors and want the best out of ur exhaust i recommend getting the whole thing done.

Regards Tom

I already have a redback muffler that cost me 300, i guess i got ripped off there but really the muffler is the expensive part.

nope seems to be the exact same size, looks pretty chunky haha. its got a great deep note to it but my exhaust just isn't loud enough.

yea mate, if u got a smaller muffler it wil increase the loudness ALOT, a bigger muffler makes it quieter obviously thats the exact reason why i got a cuxtom exhuast done cos all the red back systems etc had a similar size muffler as the standard so i thought to my self what is the point. Mine is about half the size of the stock one alot thinner in depth and a bit over half the length as the stock on, combinded with 2.5 inch piping and a hotdog it f****** roars lol

Ok is it deep? I just really like the one i got now because its note is insanely deep and if somehow i could keep a similar note but make it louder it would be awesome.

well my muffler would solve ur issues mate, yes mine is fairly deep maybe a bit less deep than urs atm, but it roars and still has the "deep" note to it, hence why im very happy with the exhaust guys work

i willl have a look at the muffler and try to find a name for you tomorrow mate and ill pm you, maybe even visit ur local exhaust place and ask him i want it to be deep, but be louder then atm he might be able to recommend you something good.

my expierence with catbacks I replaced mine with 2.5inch madrel bent piping with a sports rear muffler witch was alot smaller than stock and a medium sized hotdog resonator in the middle and it sounded alright but slightly tiny sound so i replaced the middle resonator again with a muffler type resonator witch solved the sound problem hotdog isnt really recommended with magnas its been known that they dont work that well.

mine works a treat, you would have to hear it to believe it not tinny at all.
