Can anyone tell me the fuel tank capacity of a 2002 magna series 2 TJ Executive?

I noticed the fuel light comes on at 56 Litres

I filled up from driving about 15km into the fuel light today and it fit 56 litres, hence fuel light comes on about 16L till empty... pisses me off

Yea would be better if light came on with say five litres to go not 20% of the tank left

The theory is to warn you with plenty of time to get to a servo. You wouldn't be very happy if the fuel light came on in the middle of the country with 5L to go and the nearest servo was 80km away now would you :P I know that comes down to negligence, but I'm sure plenty of people don't pay enough attention when they're traveling.

need a progressive fuel light, starting green, slowly fading to red, and flashing at say 5L, now that would be handy

is this the same for a 98 magna?

My range disappears at 100km...you sure its not roughly that? Does your car average 15-16L/100km?

11-12L/100km so pretty close to 150km

I noticed the trip on my Ralliart is telling me i will get 550km out of a tank (Done 337, says i have 220 left), despite averaging 11.3L/100km after a bunch of town driving and 10.1 when i went up to singleton and back.
Is it lying to me?

I was hoping to get around 10-11L/100km, and that would give me a... What, 600-650km range?

I usually chuck $50 a fortnight in my TE (roughly 37-38 litres at current pricing). With a few highway 100km return highway trips I can get it down to 9.74L/100kms (29MPG) or 380km range for my $50. Mostly town driving its more like 12.33L/100kms (23MPG) or 300km range.

From these figures I could get 575kms (city) up to 700kms+ per full tank (highway). I often run my car for a few days around town with the fuel light intermittently on, but you know its getting time to fill up when it stays on.

But does your car have Michael Klim driving it? I didn't think so lol

In regards to the fuel light coming on. When I've had my distance to empty down to 0 and the fuel light is on I can still only fit a max of like 60 litres in (67 litre tank in the 380)

I drove moderately paced yesterday (for once) and got 9.5l/100 around town, was very impressed. On the highway to sydney and back sitting on 100 i get about 8l/100 and town gives me about 550kms till fuel light and highway 600-650.

Guys, this is the tech section of the forum, and the thread was asking what size is the fuel tank in a 2002 magna, not what your fuel economy is. If you want to talk about fuel economy we already have a thread for that here. (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35083)

On my TE the fuel light comes on at about slightly less than 1/4 tank, then goes off after a while and then comes back on when its close to empty? I thought this was standard? The 1st time is a reminder than you are getting low and then eventually stays on when you really need to fill up.

So in my car (2002 Tj sports) The tank is 71l (for sure!) And last week i got the fuel light on (empty tank), and i fill up the tank with 60.5 L of fuel! So when the petrol light is comming on you have left in the tank around 10l of petrol!

I always thought that had more to do with my erratic driving sloshing the fuel around past the sensor, but that makes sense too.

lol I think that most of you are assuming that the fuel pump can pick up every drop of fuel in the tank. If you have 10 L left, the car might run smoothly, but by the time it gets to 5L I bet the car will be surging like mad. Also the pump will be running flat out, picking up mostly air, and overheat. Keep the tank at least quarter full to keep the pump happy, I say. lol

My distance to empty never goes to 0, it always starts flashing as soon as the fuel reminder light comes on, about 160km before it starts to chug. Then it takes 71.8L to fill, but I wouldn't recommend doing it too often because your wife chews your ear pretty hard until you actually pull up in the servo driveway.

Another thing, if you fill right up to the brim, zero the computer and use the whole tank, then refill brim full again the fuel used on the computer is remarkably close to the L delivered on the pump.

The trip computer tells me that it has used more petrol than i actually have ( about 1L from a full tank..)
