ok so i picked up a cheap TH and decided to giv my much loved TE a major face lift, so far ive done all the little things(seats, carpet, powerwindows and a few others) and now im left with two major things, engine/gearbox and main wiring looms and dash.

as i see it i got two options, my prefered one is to do all electronics and dash this weekend and leave engine and gearbox to another day so i can give them both a really good service or do it all at once.

im to understand from mal that only some TE auto boxes will work if i swap over to the TH ecu but i havent been able to ask him since exactly so im hoping someone else knows, my gearbox has OWC cast on to the casing near the filter, is this compatible?

also the TH has ABS so im also to understand ill need to swap over the entire rear braking system in order to transfer this feture?

can anyone help me with some advice and prehaps some cautionary tales about pulling out all the looms and ecu, i want this all to go smooth haha

thanks guys your all awesome

Mate, we have had endless discussions on MSN about this, I am prob one of the only people who have done anything like this to a TE or F

The brake lines in the TE are completely different to the TH with ABS, the abs system has the main box in the LHS engine bay near the fire wall, the non ABS the lines drop down to the rail for the rear brakes and go down from there.

While your dash is out, you will be best off doing the ABS at the same time, if you look in my ride thread for my original TF you will see there what I did to make the hole in the fire wall, I did this without removing the aircon box, only removed the fan box

You will need to add a few hours but the booster needs to come out to remove the old non abs RHF line anyway, is much easier while dash is out. Change over your front harness also, ie the one that goes around the front, this has all the ABS system in it, you will also need to change over your front hubs and rear hubs but while there use the sports one anyway as has the factory sway bar. The back end should not take any more than an hour and a half to change over, is only like 18 or so nuts and bolts all up

thanks mal sorry for being so annoying about it im just trying to get as much info before i start to avoid any mishaps. i think my car may have abs as the light come on on the dash when the car starts so is it possible it may already be there?
