Just wondering if its a straight swap without any wiring changes.
Anyone done it?
I like the higher double din slot

The connectors are supposed to be the same. But it physically fits in there if that's what you want to know. You'll need the HU mounting brackets as they are different, as well as the ducting tube and cabain air sensor that's mounted behind the center console. The cabin air sensor is externally mounted in the TL/TW where as it's internally mounted in the C/C ECU in the TJU. So this will have to be wired in. Pictures below.

I just did this in my KH. Check out my thread for pics.
But SAVAGE is right, you need the duct (cause its plugged in on the passenger side instead and needs to be longer) and the temp sensor wiring harness. This has two wires - yellow and purple.
The yellow wire connects to the same universal yellow wire that the other sensors are connected to (Plug B-12 - socket 10) and the purple wire goes back to one of the climate control plugs. However, you'll need the wiring clip from the TL plug because it is not present in the TJ. (Plug B-13 - socket 34).

Just goto the wreckers and repin the wire you need from the plug and take the longest length you can from behind the dash. Then go home, plug the wire into the plug in the correct spot and solder the other end to the common wire.

Damn any easier explanation?
Do i really need to do this?
Because the digital climate control is pretty cold all the time, i dont even use auto, set it coldest and aircon.

If you want it to work correctly, I'd advise installing it. Its really not that difficult.
Of the two plugs that plug into the climate control, the bigger of the two plugs has a plain yellow wire (be careful because there are two other yellow wires with stripes - you want the plain yellow one). Connect the yellow wire from the temp sensor to this.
For the purple wire, it goes into the smaller of the two plugs. However, this wire was not present in the original climate control. So, from the plug from the TL/TW, you must remove the purple wire directly from the loom plug. If it is clipped out correctly, you can clip it directly into your existing plug.
If you look carefully where you took it from, you'll know exactly where to clip it back in.
Does that clarify things a little more?

thanks!
might actualy be easier to take a photo of it, so u guys can show me which wire to where, its late but its so hard to understand without seeing it

Its hard to take a photo without ripping apart the dash, hence why we probably have not already done that. :P
When are wanting to do the conversion? But I may be changing over my headunit in about a week, I can take photo's whilst its off then if you like?

Hey guys,
I've plugged it in, everything works fine. What exactly does the temp sensor thing do? Does it only matter if you're using AUTO mode?
cheers

It ESPECIALLY matters if you use AUTO - The temp sensor checks the temperature of the inside of the car - allowing the "climate control" to actually "control" the "climate". If the unit does not know the temperature inside you car, how does it know if "auto on 22 degrees" means it should blow hot or cold air?
Trust me, for the sake of two wires, connect it. :)

I "Thnink" I may have a spare tube, sensor etc and also poss the wiring in the KL I have here, I know I have sold the facia and the cc control unit but the remains of the harness is still there

Hi, if you mean the white tube, the stock one in my TJ is plenty long!!
The problem is, i cant really understand what you guys posted before, maybe i'm too electronics noob.
It'll be a lot easier if yu can tell me to cut which wire and join it to where.
Wait let me tell you what i dont understand so it'll be easier to help me.
Of the two plugs that plug into the climate control, the bigger of the two plugs has a plain yellow wire (be careful because there are two other yellow wires with stripes - you want the plain yellow one). Connect the yellow wire from the temp sensor to this.
What is 'this' referring to?

Purple wire from big or small hardness, any stripes?
I dont have the plug from the TW, I've only got my stock TJ one which is in the car :(
So plug this purple wire/clip to where?
I also realized on the centre bit, theres some electronic device next to the air holes, this must be some sensor you guys are talking about, it has a few pins.

This is exactly what we are talking about - the plug that goes into that has two wire - Yellow and Purple. These are the two wires that need to be connected to the existing plugs that go to the back of the climate control.
I'm assuming you didn't get the plug that goes into this - hence the reason it has been difficult to understand what we've been saying?

On the TL center console are a series of little holes to the left of the HU. Behind that clips in the cabin air temp sensor. If this isn't wired in your auto won't function properly. You have any friends that are good with reading print diagrams?

Thanks,
Yea! i'm missing that piece!
I'll post back when i get a piece from the wreckers or make my own plugs there!

That's what the hose plugs into.
