my car has slowly been developing problems with producing enough electrical power. it used to flash the battery light every once in a while but i kept ignoring it coz it started fine every time. at its last service the mechanic said the alternator belt was wearing out so im guessing this could be the issue? on the way home from work today the radio started cutting out and the tcl and abs turned themselves off. i turned the a/c off and that helped for a while but now the battery light is on permanently. how much roughly would i be looking at to get a new alternator belt and are they easyish to install yourself?

i replaced the belt. unfortunately this didnt solve the problem. on the way to work the other day the car nearly shut down completely. i got it to my parents house and tested the output from the battery. it was measuring between 7 and 9 volts. took the car to deering autronics and found out the alternator had pood itself :P $375 later its all fixed. cheaper than i thought it was gonna be but the car runs so much better now :P there is power there that i forgot i had
