Now before anyone says it, yes I did a search but could not find any conclusive answers to my questions.

I have just put Ralliart cams with adjustable cam gears in my 3.0

The questions are; How far are the Ralliart cams retarded from factory?
Is the rear cam retarded more than the front?
Would I be best to have both cams advanced to the same degree?

Now from the research I have done I understand that they MAY have been retarded as much as 6 degrees front and 8 rear (but like i said above not conclusive).

I'm looking to advance them around 2 degrees for more low down torque.

Any help from members that have done this mod or who worked for MMAL would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance Luke..

G'Day Luke, The ralliarts are ground with 6 degress retard any variation between the 2 is usuallly down to idler and water pump location, the water pump having an effect on the rear cam only. Machining of the bllock and heads will retard the cams more.
Yep advance and retard the cams the same amount. So start advancing at 2 degress at a time and see how it helps your torque.

Hope this helps, Cheers Dave.

Thanks Dave

So Dave in saying that I would need to turn the teeth anticlockwise 8 degrees on the cam gears to get an actual 2 degrees positive on the cams when lined up with the timing marks on the rocker covers yes??

Cheers Luke

Luke, not seeing the gears you are using. But my guess is the gears stay stationary on the belt, loosen the lock nuts, spannner on the cam bolt and turn clockwise to advance. I'd leave the covers of and advance at 2 degrees at a time, locking adjuster bolts, or go 4 degrees and you will have the same setting as the standard 3lrt but with the extra lift for a good comparision. Then start advancing if you wish.

Cheers Dave

Yeah thanks Dave I wasn't thinking straight and going about it all the wrong way, now I understand.
