View Full Version : Shuddering during acceleration

A few weeks back I had a mild shudder when accelerating, it felt like a misfire. I've finally put it into the mechanic who's replaced the spark plugs, leads, given it a service with oil change/filter, cleaned the throttle body.

It drove back home fine, but when I went a bit later on it was shuddering like mad. Worse than before. It does this all the way through first, and when the engine has gotten to operating temp.

I've just forked out $500 for the work and can't afford anymore.

Any ideas on what might come next?

Edit: Just to give some background, I've got reconditioned CV.s, front suspension is new, tyres are new, I've had the sump cleaned earlier this year which had a blocked filter. It's fairly quite and runs smoothly.

Also when at a cruising speed of 60k I can't really notice it and nothing happens during braking.

Engine mounts? Worth checking. If its not that do a compression test. Might be a burnt valve.

Reco drive shafts could be the issue, have seen this many a time thus why I no longer sell reco ones, get these checked first

I'd be going back to the Mechanic cause it seems you may have paid $500 for nothing!!

Hardly nothing. New leads & plugs will cost over $200, depending on the quality, plus a service & TB clean. Sounds pretty fair for workshop prices.
