Hi all,
I am looking at a new Iphone 4 or the Samsung Galaxy S smart phone and was wondering whether others have these phones and are able to connect to the 380 standard bluetooth system. Thanks

Should be no problem, currently using galaxy S with a 2-3 year old pioneer bt system, I had to update the pioneer for nokia. But the samsungs ver. 3 BT is backwards .compatible with the stock settings.
Poineer is a parrot bt I believe.

Yeah, I use it with Galaxy S. Seems ok. Sometimes it's a bit slow to connect and I haven't been able to stream music through it.

I also have an Iphone 4 and it connected first time easily enough.........
The problem I do have is that it is too loud. And, unlike my old blackberry, I cannot seem to adjust the volume using the phone volume controls. Does anyone have same problem? If so were you able to fix it? Or, if your volume works fine with the Iphone 4, what firmware is your car kit running?
The firmware in my car bluetooth is VM3.18. I have read there is an upgrade to VM3.20 through Mitsubishi (part MR936542) to address problems with Nokia phones (www.ngabluetooth.com.au). Perhaps this is a path I can try.

My volume with the iphone 4 is quite loud, actually louder than my 3GS. You're right you cannot change the volume via the audio volume controls.
Mine is version 3.2 so could be a firmware thing.

Thanks Foozrcool, I appreciate you confirming the same problem.
I spoke to Penfold Mitsubishi today and they kindly confirmed reports of similar problems with other vechiles. In particular the Triton ute. The salesman I spoke to quoted the accessory for the triton ute to adjust volume on bluetooth as MR936541. When I quized him about MR936542 he wasn't personally familiar with the part but said it is listed with the same description but for a 380db. Based on this, he assumes it will probabely work.
I was quoted $62.20 for the part so I will bite the bullet and try it. It is not currently in stock but I will update this forum once I have it installed.

Looking forward to a solution!
Will chase part above.

Hi All
Good news, I installed the part today and it works as advertised.....
Basically the part is no more than a wiring harness that introduces more connectivity between the Parrot Bluetooth Module and the Radio Head Unit. It is relatively straight forward to install and the instructions that come with the unit outline how this is done.
Once installed, the harness seems to carry bi-directional audio between the bluetooth and the radio. The radio now controls the volume level of a phone call either through the steering wheel controls and/or the volume control on the front console. This level is independant to the radio control so there is no problem when switching between the two. It is worth noting that the phone volume can only be adjusted when the phone is active (ie on a call).
On the down side, what you will notice is more background noise (hissing) and more audio distortion. What appears to be happening is that relatively low audio is sent from the Bluetooth to the HU which is then amplified by the radio ciruits. The result is that both the desired audio and the undesired base noise floor are amplfied and sent back to the bluetooth module. Perhaps this is why Mitsubishi did not include this as part of the original wiring. For me, this is only a minor annoyance and far easier to live with than overly loud calls.
In general, I am happy with the result and it works as I expected. I hope this helps other in the same boat as me.
I would like to thank Penfold Holden/Mitsubishi Burnley here in Melbourne for their persistance and help tracking the part down for me. We often bag the dealerships and their service departments but credit where credit is due, Penfold went out of their way to help me resolve this problem.
FYI, for those of you (like me) with the ipod interface installed, these to links might be of interest.

Hi
I've just bought a 2006 380GT with the factory bluetooth buttons to the right of the steering wheel.
I have tried to pair it with my Nokia N97 mini (with latest firmware) when I get the phone to search for new devices it finds car multimedia and Your-446XXXXXX ( I blanked out the last few digits for privacy)
Which one do I connect to? I've tried both and the phone just says waiting for Your-446xxxxxxxx etc and never changes.
If I hold down both of the phone buttons to the right of the steering wheel I get a female voice saying erasing memory please wait.. Any suggestions?
Cheers

I think it was picking up neighbours car. I clicked on show more devices on my Nokia and eventually Parrot came up, so I chose that and enterered default passcode and all good :)
Sucks how bluetooth audio streaming works but the car has a budget additional speaker and doesn't route through the cars audio system...

I had part MR936542 installed by a Mitsi dealer as part of my low volume issue with my Nokia phone. This enabled me to actually be able to hear conversations while driving and now being able to adjust the volume via the radio knob is terrific and the kind of functionality I thought it would have in the first place. Having to reach for your phone to adjust would be a pain, and in my case I couldn't make it louder and in the Iphone 4 case you can't make it quieter, so this part is what you need.
I had it done under warranty.

Does anyone have the new Motorola Defy? If so, does it connect well to the standard 380 bluetooth system?

Hi Everyone,
I have purchased a Samsung Galaxy S and found it connects to the car, but the volume is low when driving. Has anyone else have this issue with the Samsung phone.
Genebaby how did you get the volume fix done under warranty, which dealer?
Thanks

I have just purchased a Motorola Defy and have been having some issues trying to get it to connect with my 2007 Triton. It says that it is paired with the Parrot VM3.18 but refuses to connect.
Has anyone heard of this happening to other phones, or if there is a solution?

I ordered this part today for my car as since I got the iPhone 4 the volume has been very loud.
I'm about to put a sound system in which will have 90W RMS driving at that front speaker from the headunit so thought it a good idea to be able to control the volume!!

if you want to go aftermarket, get a alpine unit, they have parrot bluetooth, works flawlessly.

How much FOOZ? Did you try and hit them up for a warranty install, or has your warranty finished?

Retail was about $60 but I'll get it cheaper. I put my phone kit in myself later so no warranty for me but for that price who cares.

Hi All,
I've just had my 380Gt's parrot bluetooth kit firmware updated. It came with firmware 3.18 and now it's 5.21 from memory (Haven't picked up the car for minor warranty fixes over the last day)
While the car was in the mitsi dealer I got them to pull out the bluetooth kit and i took it to http://www.ngabluetooth.com.au/mitsubishi/
They charged me $45 to upgrade the firmware, but plugged the parrot bluetooth module into their bench test lab and showed me it happily linking to my crappy Nokia N97 mini and the volume was a hell of lot better too. Apparanty they have a known volume fix as part of the firmware update. When I get the car back, hopefully later today I'll give feedback over the next week.

Was just looking, you can do your own upgrade if you know the product model of the interface. Will look into this & see if I can do an upgrade myself.

Sorry, just saw this. Mine was done through the now defunct dealer in Braddon, ACT. They are in Belconnen now, joining up with one that was there before, or something like that.
I advised there was an issue with my BT system, it wasn't the phone as I have a Parrot in my other car and it was fine, so they installed the fix and it's been fine.
Badmagna, there is no separate speaker for the BT, it does use the factory system, just only the left speaker, it's how they designed it.

I pulled my Phone bluetooth module out today & it is a Parrot CK3000 Evolution. The latest firmware available for this is 5.25C so our Mitsubishi supplied kits are very old firmware!! (Mines 3.21 most appear to be 3.18)
I have downloaded the flash update tool & also the latest firmware. Stepping through the flash options it appears that this can be updated via bluetooth if your laptop has this facility. It mentions a bluetooth dongle but I'm hoping this isn't some special parrot part & will work with a normal laptop with bluetooth. There is also an option for a serial connection but would require a special lead or if I could find out the pinouts make a lead.
I'll plug the module back in tomorrow & give it a go with my laptop & let you all know how I go.

It seems even via bluetooth this serial cable is required. I found one online in the UK but with postage etc it would end up costing roughly the same as taking it to a dealer to get flashed.

Reseeler told me that this effectively converted unit from 3000 to 3000 Evo, and Evo should be reflahable via BT, but I have not tried
Sadly the volume control issue was not fixed either for iPhone 3gs or iPhone 4
However audio quality form both ends was improved - less echoing to remote caller and clearer in car sound

When I pulled mine out the label said it was a 3000 EVO already. So are they saying you can flash it without the lead via bluetooth? When I read up it still looked like you had to plug a lead in anyway even if flashing via bluetooth which seemed pretty pointless to me.

Hi Foozrcool
I bought and installed the MR936542 patch cable today and my volume is now controlled perfectly via the radio vol control - it rememebers phone and radio volumes depending which is in use. Local dealer had to order it in (Sydny City Mitsu) but was there in 18 hours. Took about 10 mins for me to fit. Fascia off, radio out, blue tooth dismounted (can't get plugs in/out otherwise), new cable inserted (has male and female connectors to patch it in to Parrot and radio, and then reassemble.
I have not tried to reflash sinbce 5.25c. When I tried at 3.18 B/T form laptop connected OK, and said it was processing, but it went no further - hung there for an hour till I ran out of patience. Dealer reflash with his cable was only a few minutes. In short I don't know if B/T reflash depends on "EVO" hardware or on firmware being > 3.18/3.2
Terry
I have not tried to reflash since the
