Hey guys,
I can't remember if I asked this one before or not, but I was wondering if it is possible (or if anyone has done it) to be able to set your car to turn headlights/foglights off when you lock the car and have them turn on again when you unlock the car? Is there a generic module I can buy to do this?
My dad's older model commodore has a timer on the headlights so they turn off after a certain time once the car is locked, but im happy if they simply turn off upon lock instantly (obviously this would only be the case if you left the lights on via the stork, and it would overwrite this).
Not only would this be cool, but I think it would be useful for walking up the driveway at night etc

our cars have the headlight timer also, its in the manual on how to use it. If I remember, when lights still on pull back to activate high beams then release after 2-3 sec, then turn lighs off, this should give around 30 sec worth before they shut off.

mines not a verada, but ill go check my manual anyway :D if I had this option, I would of thought it would be on by default... you don't need to set it each time do you?

haha, I just assumed (silly me) our cars didnt have it...I just went and read manual/tested...the lights don't turn back on when you unlock car...also it appears you have to 'set it' each time you leave the car?

Regardless whether or not they turn on or off with the unlocking/locking the car, it's still a handy feature to have, I've used it several times and love it.
Though unsure if pre T/KL cars have the same feature

you're right, it is good! Thanks for bringing it to my attention :D
I was just wondering if there was a permanent solution to the lights on when unlocked and off when locked whilst leaving the light stork set to on when leaving the car?
eg. it would be very nice to come back to my car in the dark carpark after work and have the head lights turn on from a distance before i get to it :)

im a bit of a noob at electronics but, id connect this 'flip-flop' to the BEM wire for the remote signal...and the other wire to ground of the light stalk?
Where would i obtain a flip-flop latching relay? (I'm not even sure what it looks like) sorry :(

It was a TH/KH up feature and it was also standard on all models.

thats the relay youd be after
how it works is the light stalk shares a common ground between parkers and the headlights, so adding this relay in to cut/open this ground via the centrol locking unlock/lock wires will make it work the way you want, all youd do is just leave the lights switched ON, if you dont want it do it you just turn the lights OFF. Ive done this to my vrx as its how i like it do work as well
You might want to look in to desoldering the buzzer in the bcm as well cos every time you open the door it will buzz but that doesnt need to be there because when you lock it turns the lights off anyway
