(Hope this is the right section for this)
Hey guys,
My Ralliart badge is pretty badly discolored/hard to read/yellowed. Is there much i can do to bring it clear again short of replacing it entirely?
The only thing i can think of is a headlight restoration kit designed to bring the yellow out of plastic lights?
Cheers.
That is the best you can do. However, you'll have to keep doing that as it does not stay clear for long. Mitsubishi cheaped out on the badge in not properly UV stabilising it.

There's a few things you can do to clean them.
Hopefully someone on here will post up some other ideas as I remember there being a few (like maybe prepsol?) that other people have used.
I used some Goo-remover on mine then gave it a good clean/rinse. Came up crystal clean (like many of the other remedies I've read on AMC).
The badge will go cloudy again over time but it's not thta hard to get it clean again.
Don't forget the be careful and give the paintwork a good clean/polish afterwards.

Not sure if is similar to the plastic head lights but some sun screen over it after a wash should help stop it being damaged by the sun also

Just get some cut and polish and rub a small amount into it until it go's away.. takes like a minute and brings to back to normal

What he said, like any other plastics that are heavily damaged, I've used a generic cut and polish to bring the surface back to life.
Headlight restoration kits work, but the following applies with great results.
sand down the headlights (wet) with various grades of sandpaper from harsher to finer. start at about 400G, then 600G, 800G, 1200G, 1500G. Polish out with a rotary buffer, or if you have it, the Josco buffing wheel for a drill, and it'll bring the headlights back like they were brand new.
So if you were keen you could try that one the badge, you'll actually be sanding out the discolored top layer of plastic so its a permanent fix, well, for the next 10 years anyway lol.

I use a household polish called gumption. You don't want to get any on your paintwork, but it takes less work to get it lookong good. It will come back though. I think someone on here said they cleaned theirs up then clearcoated it to solve the problem

If you can get it cleaned up and then spray some UV proof clearcoat on it should last as long as paint instead of as long as plastic. Unless the thinners in the paint melts the plastic. Try dabbing a bit on the edge of it first to see if it melts or not?

K, thanks guys i'll try that later tomorrow. Will try some cut and polish on it, if not i'll resort to metho.
Also have some colour restorer and polish to help bring the full red back out, as well as a headlight resto kit i'll do. Should come up sweet.

A little bit of metho does the job! Totally agree!

Hi everyone
Unfortunately, my Ralliart badge is past the above fixes. It has a crack through the middle as well. Has anyone seen any of these for sale? There have been none on ebay since I've been looking (about a month). I could replace it with another type of badge but these are mostly rectangle and this would be out of keeping with the stock look.

Surely Mitsu spare parts would be able to get you a new one?

Ill give them a try. The dealer here just happens to be the most woeful I've evry come across. A least they wont need to touch my car. They had our 380 7 times to fix a problem and basically gave up. Our independent mechanic fixed it in an hour at our expense.
I might ask my wife to go in as my blood tends to boil whenever I go near the place.
I know there are some good ones out there but no competition in a country town.

I just remembered that their spare parts place is in a separate part of town. Apparently they have a good reputation unlike the workshop. Ill let you know if there are any left in the spare parts inventory as I'm sure a lot of the Ralliart badges out there will be beyond repair at some point.

That would be great mate, my one is starting to peel and generally look bad too. I just wonder how expensive they'll be.
