Hey yal! would like to share what I found today.

My car was due for spark plug change, so I went and got myself spark plugs (Iridium) and while I was there, I got new spark plug leads (TOP GUN 8mm) changed them over and Wahlaa, the flat spots gone! sounds different too, you can hear it. bit more responsive than before.

I had a look at the intake plenum and throttle body, I know I know how to make it high flow, but it'll take longer than just the afternoon i had, so I'll do that another time.

but anyway, changing old spark plugs and leads made a slight difference for me, maybe it would for you as well.

Cheers

how much were the Iridium plugs  They are a load of **** and to prove my point ask any petrol running rally team which plugs they use  They all use STD bosch plugs which are $3 each.

I lernt the hard way that super 4's are **** too. just a con to get car lovers into buying "the best" for there car

:bowrofl:

Iridiums provide the same level of ignitionability as Platinums anyway.

which is the same as a std plug almost. its obviously needed for your hard tuned racer aswell ay  mitsu didn't put them in stock so why would you? im sure they would put them in if it would help them reduce problems or gain a bit of power

Bleh, you've probably got a point, but I needed new plugs and I got Iridium ones because i've never tried them, they do cost a lot more than std plugs, but cheaper compared to Platium. It's probably true that they don't do anything, but how would I know without trying them at least once? I like to experience things first hand, because that's how I learn.

Even if Iridium plugs are just like normal plugs, at least I know I have tried them. But right now, I think they are better than normal plugs from the feel of the car.

How much did the new leads cost ya?

hmm, I bought it from repco, $150 for
Bendix Metal kings, Sparkplug leads and a socket adapter. so i think the leads were about $95-100 (trade price)

Tell you what, if you're going to change your leads, you might as well change your rear bank of spark plugs, coz you have to take off the intake plenum, so might as well get two birds with one stone.

CONTACT INFO FOR QLD IGNITION LEADS : give Doug or Greg a call on 3886 5700 or just wander in to his workshop at 1560 Anzac Avenue, Kallangur.
Try him for some REAL GOOD leads, he would make a magna set for maybe 200 bucks, thats 10.8 mm with ends which actualy fit the cap and coil  stupid bosch leads

Iridium are meant to give a substantial improvement at high rpm at least from the dyno graph they show with the advertising. of course there are ways they could manipulate that result, but it suggests that the iridium plug will ultimately perform better for at high rpm under greater fuelling.
it sounds like white devils plugs or leads were breaking down under load and any new ones would have fixed the problem, not necesarily only iridiums.

Whats the lifespan on an idridium plug? Is it the same as a std plug or platnum?

Im going to be changing the plugs and leads in the VRX shortly :D

Magnas come with Platinums (3rd Gen) in the rear as they last ages and saves ripping the car apart all the time to change the rear plugs. You'll find the rear plugs will be left there till 100,000kms. Try doing that with standard Bosch plugs that you get for $3. I have no idea about weither they increase power but obviously they last longer

Fair enough. Might as well give them a go. Any idea what the stock size of leads are?

i always have a BIG flat spot only when I'm driving with the AC on, at around 3,800 - 3,900 rpm - it's like the gearbox wants to change up but then reconsiders

Could it be the ECU ?
