Can you let me know what you think of this vehicle and how much I should ask the dealer for it...Im looking for a car to take on long trips, fast, low kms and new...this seems like a good deal but maybe ask for 23k with trade-in

i wouldent pay any more than 20,000 for it my self since it is a magna.
and you could get a VRX for the same price just with a few more KM :D

Stop talking out your ass...

Looks like its a demo model. Thats a pretty good deal for the KM's and being the sports model. You could get maybe 2k off the price.

^^ I have been looking around and it seems that 23k is a good price for this car...it only has 6000kms on the clock...cant get a VRX for under 25k..which has under 50000kms. Im in WA..so you think 20 grand for this car..thats pushing the dealer alot!!!

All this fuss about VRX's!! All they are is a Sports with an average bodykit and exactly the same everything else! Get a sports, spend your savings on a decent looking bodykit and be an individual!! :

I drive a 2002 TJ Series-2 Sports and it's great. Personally I'm not a fan of the automatics, but each to their own. As far as the magnas go, you can't go wrong with the Sports

The Series 2 additions of climate control, digital tacho, factory splits, etc make it worth the effort over buying a Series 1.

Why is everyone bagging the VRX?? Yes it is essentially a sports but with more options (bodykit, wheels/tyres, interior). It was never meant ot be anything else. It was $3000 more than a Sports brand new and is managing to maintain that price difference now. If the VRX is so undesirable why are so many people spending so much money kitting out the cars with VRX bodykits etc. (end of rant)

I think $23K would be a fair price for this car. It would have nearly 2 years warranty left and looks in excellent condition. You could try to knock another 1k off or so, in which case it would be a great deal. Just be prepared to lose a bit of that over the next couple of years. At auction you would probably pay around 19-21K.

I was looking for the right VRX for about 6 months. I have never seen one at a car yard for less than $28K and the cheapest I've seen at auction was $22k but it had **** loads of kilometres and was a 2001 model. I stopped looking about a month ago (to ease the depression of devaluation) but I can't see them coming down so much in four weeks.

Just my 2c worth.

The only interior differences between the Sports and the VR-X are that the VR-X has VR-X written on the dials and seats instead of Sports
:D

thanks for replies guys....

What is your opinions about getting it b4 the 30th of June...Im planning to make a trade-in deal with my dealer on June 30th...might be able to get it cheaper...

cthuhu, why do you say the manual is better over tiptronic in this model ? is it a power thing, which do you drive?

And having never owned a magna, with no modifications how does it stand up to a Holden S or SS or WRX...in terms of take off and high end speed...

ahh, that's right. I got a little confused mid-rant because my car came with leather interior.

Apologies.

Don't get me wrong I like the Sports, I just loved the look of the VRX.

Definately more power to the ground with a manual, and it's supposedly stronger which is good if you want to do mods down the line. The auto is much better now that they have 5 ratios (used to be a 4spd auto, 5spd manual) which are exactly the same as what you find in the manual box.

I also get annoyed by having to wait for the auto to kick down, even in semi-auto mode you still have to wait a fraction of a second after you throw the lever for the box to kick down.. I'm not saying I can change faster in a manual, but I do know that as soon as I take my foot off the clutch pedal the new gear is engaged, no questions asked.

With the Holdens.. anything on the slower side of a Gen III LS1 is within reach of a TJ Sport/VR-X.. not too sure about the auto, but definately the manual. Even a stock WRX might fall because they are so hard to launch quickly without bogging down. You can potentially give a VT series 2 5.7L a run for its money as they were a good 1/2 second slower than the VX and VY models 0-100.

The Magna is quick, no doubt about it. AU or earlier XR6s are toast, Holden Supercharged 6 hasn't got a chance :D and you can take the 5L V8 models.

Yeah, I love the VR-X look. Very powerful. I'd have bought one but there was an $8,000 difference in drive away price. They wanted to shift the Sports cos it had been on the lot for a while so I got it for a song! I plan to replace the wheels anyway so not having those sweet VR-X factory alloys doesn't bother me too much, and I can do without the body kit.. can always add it later anyway.
