Okay, so Tonba and I are putting his new Headunit in his car, it's a Pioneer DEH-P4650MP (http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entertainment/cdtuners/dehp4650mp/index.html) (ie. the silver one with MP3).
Can someone please confirm the colours of the power wires for the factory wiring harness in a TF Advance (ie. the ground wire, the accessories wire and the battery wire). Using the wiring diagram I came to the conclusion that the Blue wire is Negative, the Yellow is the constant 12V Battery, and the Green with White stripe is the Accessories. The unit isn't working, however, for some reason we have continuity across the ground wire and the accessories wire (and two blown fuses). The wires themselves are definitely not touching each other at the solder joint, in fact they are in separate bits of insulation cocoon. I will be inspecting the rest of the wire tomorrow, but was wondering if anybody here can shed some light on this problem that doesn't involve the wires physically touching. Do I have the colours around the wrong way?

Might be different on a TJ, but thanks for your help nonetheless, has made me think about it a bit more. Possibly the Blue wire is the ignition wire? Hmm....
I will run the multimeter over it again tomorrow to check all wires, but any advice at all is much appreciated by me and Tonba. Cheers...

ok - the best way to test this setup is with a test light with the following combinations:
Ignition Off - Earthing to the metal body anywhere:
One wire should illuminate the test light - this is your constant
Two wires shoudl not illuminate - this is the earth and the acc / ign
Ignition to Acc - Earthing to the metal body anywhere:
Two wires should now illuminat the test light - one will be the constant and the other the acc / ign wire - now you know which wires are your power supplies.
One wire should not illuminate - this should be your earth
Test three to confirm the earth - use the earth wire as the earth point for the tests one and two - is this does not illuminate - then you are not holding the earth wire ;)
Illumination wire - with most H/U - the illumination wire works as a dimmer wire - I wasn't aware magna's had this feature - as my TH cerainly didn't. but i would do what you have Damien - and just wrap it up, and make sure it isn't contacting anything. because when the H/U has power - it will light up automatically anyway.
I tried looking in the Gregory's Manual for the colour specific - and i can't make head's or tails of it - however MOST H/Us will have the wire specifications on a label on the top or teh bottom of the H/U - not sure if Factory units do or don't though - but yeah - i am assuming your Speakers work?? as you haven't asked for the speaker combo's - which i can give you as per the gregory's manual:
Front Right: Black / Red and White / Red
Rear Right: Grey / Red and Yellow / Red
Front Left: Black / Blue and White / Blue
Rear Left: Grey / Blue and Yellow / Blue
The Black and Grey wires are the negative side of the speakers - and the white and yellow wires are the positive side of the speaker.
if there is any more queries - post them and i will try and answer

Thanks for that Manual, appreciate your help.
As you know, we are still having problems. Please see Tonba's other post for further details.
