Have you ever heard of a RWD conversion being performed on a magna?

Only the fully custom V8 hot rod magna from approx 2004.

I wonder if the AWD Magna might be halfway there, or if the front diff and transfer case is more of a hindrance....

Easy. Drive backwards lol

In all seriousness however I can imagine the cost of engineering it would be more than anyone would want to justify.

There is actually a RWD V8 Magna in exisrtance, made as a one off race car, I saw it in the flesh at a hill climb at mounr cootha a year or two ago, managed to get a pic of it too. Wanted to find the driver/owner after their run to ask how it was done but couldnt find him.

More details on V8 Magnas: http://www.v8x.com.au/cms/A_30451/article.html

My question about these is - are they 'v8 supercars' with a magna shell on top, or did they start out as MMAL production models?

Warren Luff competed in the Bathurst 24hr in a Holden 5.0 V8 engined Magna in 2002. That was a custom job, Magna chassis and body converted to RWD. It was built by Bond Rollbars

In reality, it shouldn't be too hard to make one RWD. Enlarging the centre tunnel of a FWD or using an AWD floorpan should be sufficient, then finding the rear end of a RWD that measures up nicely. Then its a case of engine orientation. Perhaps leaving it east-west and mating it up to a AWD box and get some blanking plates made up for the front shafts
