If you have the series 1 which sound like you have, there is a quick fix, PM DVS, he has done it, there is a wire to cut and patch into another wire, he did show me a couple weeks ago what he did but best to confirm with him

The Trip Computer/Clock from a Verada will plug straight in, only issue is your fuel gauge will no longer work.
Two options -
1. Rewire the plug to get your fuel gauge working again (there is a how-to somewhere on the forum)
2. Source a Trip Computer/Clock from a limited edition VRX or an 01 Sports - some had them. This will plug straight in and your fuel gauge will continue to work.
I have a Trip Computer/Clock in my silver VRX. I originally had the Verada type, but sourced one from a limited VRX so I did not have to do any re-wiring for the Verada one.
Both units look identical but have different part numbers. If i find the thread I have read before, I will edit this post.

With the series 1 is not correct, DVS has his working fine, fuel guage works and clock can be set off the original buttons ok, this wire he cuts must be the one that fixes the guage issue

The Series 1 KJ and Series 1 TJ Centre display plugs are the same, all the wires match up including the wires for the Mode, Up, Down buttons. The standard TJ Center display (no clock) relays the fuel gauge signal through the Trip computer and back to the cluster, the Verada Trip/Clock doesn't do this, so there is no signal reaching the cluster for the fuel gauge to work.
So to fix this when you install the KJ Trip/Clock in to a TJ, you need to reconnect the fuel gauge wire, by-passing the Trip/Clock.

Not hard if you have access to the wiring diagrams in the PDF manual.

Just PM DVS, he has done it and everything works, the SII will be very different but the series 1 and TH are pretty much the same thus why it will work on your car, is cut 1 wire and patch that wire into a grey on the same loom, he did show me his old loom but I can not find where I wrote down the 2 wires

I may be wrong, but my memory has it that member DanielsVRX posted-up the info about which wire is cut and tapped-in to another wire. Grey and Yellow-Grey also ring a bell.
EDIT: Thanks for the corrections below, fella's - must have been half-asleep last night!
At one stage I was mad-keen to get a clock in my TJ II (or is it 1.5?) Sports - but as I have trip reda-out in the cluster it just got too hard.
I'd actually prefer to have the trip read-out up near the centre-vents. Think it is easier to read, and safer, up high there.
Close Elwyn, it's the Green-Yellow has to be cut and spliced into the Grey wire and everything works as it should.

WRONG.....it was Jasons VRX...he did a post on it,and it is a dead simple mod to do...cut one wire and join it into another...search i will later...
From jasons vrx
P.S. Just went and pulled the trip computer/clock unit * out of my car and checked what i did and YES i joined the green/yellow wire into the grey wire by cutting the green/yellow wire about 40mm back from the trip computer plug and then joined it in to the gray wire BUT DO NOT join the green/yellow wire that is left hanging out of the trip computer plug to anything, that stays unconnected (just tap it up if ya want).
So in SUMMARY the gray wire runs all the way to the trip computer/clock BUT the green/yellow wire joins into it about 40mm from the plug and what is left of the green/yellow wire hanging out of the trip computer/clock plug remains unconnected.

This is what it looks like, zip ties are only use to illustrate the connection, hope this helps someone
