Just wanting to double check... I've had some issues with the part numbers and want to make sure. Has anyone fitted the rear swaybar to their V6 Sedan (TS) and can confirm it is BMR44?

Cheers,
Kim

Further to Kim's question - could someone with sway bars fitted to their 2nd Gen (front, back or both) please add to this thread and let us know if they are worth getting.
Is the body-roll difference noticable - pros/cons - etc.

I was talking to a guy at work last week about suspensions and asked about Strut Braces and Sway Bars - he said the sway bars would stiffen the body-roll up but unless we were to go into track racing, a strut brace would be a waste of money - Can anyone confirm this.

Kim, out of interest, have you got a price on the Sway Bars? I'd be interested to see how much they are to buy/fit.

There's a few ppl here that have the strut brace and they've raved about it. I will be getting one soon with all my new suspension, so I'll be sure to tell you all about it.

okay - so if a strut brace is good... other than the fact it looks hot under the bonnet - what benefits will it give us.

Also, are the below price ranges any good for these parts? (How do they compare with your prices)

Whiteline...
Front Strut Brace $170-$200
HD Sway Bar (Front) $150-$180
HD Sway Bar (Back) $150-$180
(+ fitting & postage)

BMR44 is the correct bar for the rear, 22mm.

I fitted the rear bar before the front and it gave a remarkable decrease in understeer and an increase in lift-off oversteer (substantial lift-off oversteer in the wet). Anti-roll in the rear is quite pronounced as I have received many comments as to how flat the back sits through corners. I then fitted the front bar (downsized it from 22mm hollow bar to a 20mm solid bar) and this made the rear bar even more effective. There is now slightly more body roll in the front but decreased understeer.

It really depends how you drive; I drive on the roads as if I was on the track so I get most of the benefits but for A to B driving in peak hour you may not notice the difference. I presume you are part of the former otherwise you wouldn't be asking about this.

The front strut brace also falls under the same category; you won't notice until you push the car very hard. In suburban driving having the brace fitted increases NVH though but is good for increasing road feedback through the steering wheel. It essentially helps to maintain (static) front suspension geometry under heavy loads by stopping strut tower flex.

tek - could you just explain what lift-off oversteer is?

Cheers,
Kim

When you lift off the throttle or apply the brake quickly whilst reaching the corner apex, the back of the car comes out.
