Hey guys a mate of mine got this headunit given to him a while ago and we installed it in his TJ a few weeks ago.

Now he's looking to install a sub on a fairly low budget ($350 + materials for the install) however i'm not sure how this headunit will go with a sub as I don't recall any sub controls or a high pass filter when I was having a play around with it. Any suggestions?

Well it has bass/middle/treble control so the difference will be limited but I would say there would be some.
Also im sure there would have to be an rca output control to tell how much power to put through the sub...

If it doesnt have any hpf I would suggest making sure you get an amp with a hpf or good tuning settings (i.e. gain, bass etc)

Also - make sure he goes through the passenger side wheel arch with the power cable :) better to not drill through the firewall!

I think you guys mean LPF not HPF

says it has 2x rca line outputs, im gessing there F&R. Just run 1 to the amp and use LPF. Saying that your sterio system is only as good as your weekest component so i wouldnt expect much with a HU of that level

Yea dunno why it says 2 RCA outputs, there's only one on the back of it. Was talking the HPF for the speakers as they're running through the head unit, like on mine ive got it set to 100hz or whatever it is so the speakers don't have to handle the bass.

And yea i've already told him it's not a great HU to be running a sub but he likes all the bluetooth functionality n shit...

he can run a sub if he uses a pass through signal amp. i did that a few years back.

This.
Just make sure you set the low pass filter on the amp that is powering the sub...
