Getting a heck of a lot of boot rattle. I really dont want to be spending $200 on dynamat.
Are there any other cheap easy alternatives?
Got any ideas?

bugger boot rattle, turn your sub the other way....
it will sound so much better!!!
i stopped boot rattle in my old car using carpet underlay
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Brand-New-Bridgestone-Rubber-Carpet-Underlay-/220702923006?pt=AU_Rugs_Carpets&hash=item3362eb58fe#ht_1047wt_1139

stuff old rags between the outer skin and the frame or if you very careful try expanda foam. Boot will weigh more but sound like concrete when you tap it. Also if you have old bicycle tubes, cut them and screw your number plate back with some tube behind.
worked for me ......
firing backwards does usually sound better due to a thing called "loading" basically pressure build up.

Just coat the back of the boot lid and the whole interior of the boot with fibreglass mat and resin, then sand it smooth and paint it a sedate colour, like firetruck red. lol Also, move the spare and tools out of the boot.

Turn your music down
Much too sensible. Not an option! He wants his DOOF DOOF loud and without rattles! He wants his sub to put out 120 watts at 60 hertz without rattling the light globes!
Turn your music down
Or remove the sub ;) He did ask for the cheapest solutions!
You just need something to absorb the sound waves before it gets to the bootlid. So things like rags will help to an extent, but you also need to thicken the panels to make them more rigid and less prone to noise from vibration. That's half the idea of products like Dynamat.

Cheapest way would be to get a $10 tube of Sikabond or Sikaflex and use it to seal the bootlid sheet and the bracing to each other.
Once that is done cut out some small sheets of Dynamat (in a odd triangle shape) to place on the thin parts of the bootlid, and if that hasnt done it enough fill the bracing with expanda foam.

Just wire in a cheap set of headphones. Solves all the problems. Or forget the car audio and use an iPod.

my sub is facing into the car and found that moust of the vibrations came from the parcel shlef and back seat used dynamat on the parcel shelf and went to jaycar and got sound deading mat that need to be glued on for the seat and rear of the boot not the lid and stuffed some old foam beind the numer plate. from memory it was around $10 a roll. if you go on the jaycar website and put AX3680 in the search bar it'll show specs

dynamat add's weight to the panels to prevent it from rattling and is also a sound insulator...

If you want to skip the dynamat and go something cheaper, using carpet is probably your best bet.

was definetly worth it cheap and stopped rattles glue wasnt included but can be baught from a hardware store i just used contact glue. for the money IMO was worth it. only problem is tight corners or really bumby panels as its a little tricky to shape
