Just a quick question in regards to remote engine start and guys please try to retain from comments like “it’s a wank factor” “why you want it for” “it’s illegal”. The reason I want it is not to show of. I just want to warm up my car without leaving the house so when I go out side to leave for work its ready to go.

What is the work around the immobiliser? Since we need the key for engine to start? My installer told me simplest solution is to have spare key hidden somewhere but still wired up so the car can be starter remotely. I don’t like the idea of loosing spare key so is there any way to by past that?

Back to the OT,

You are able to send your ECU to SKR (Steve Knight) to be unlocked from the immobilizer.

You may want to check on some of the American websites. They seem to be more adventurous with modifications. On this forum, you will only get negative info about what you want to do.

Some info for you:

our grey import Mitsu came with factory remote start so some colder parts of the world use it.. I would get your ECU immobiliser unlocked by SKR then use whatever brand of remote start system comes with an inbuilt immobiliser. so you'r relying on an aftermarket immob rather than the factory one.

Guys, FFS, can any of you keep to the bloody topic for just a change, we are not here to argue if an engine should be warmed up or not, the OP ASKED IF HE CAN CONNECT REMOTE START, if you can not keep to that topic, STFU and if you really want to know, start a new thread in the tech torque seciton

now to actually answer the question

Yo have 2 choices that I know of, there may be others out there

You can get a new key programmed into the BEM so you have an extra key, you can also "mod" the key cut so it will not work in the ig if it is found. Get a spare pick up ring, plug it in, put the key head in the ring and secure it to someting right up under the dash

Option 2, depending on your car, I may be able to unlock the ECU, if not Steve also should be able to

In Chicago where I used to live, people love remote start because it is so bloody cold that you always warm the car for 15' so the heater is warm when you get in. I remember once spending 15' digging snow so that I could open the driver's door, clear the exhaust, and start up, and another 30' digging before I could drive off, but in a blissfully warm car. JC Whitney (google them) sells lots of remote starters, there's bound to be one for a 2005 Diamante. Now that I live in Adelaide I never warm up, instead preferring to drive off slowly. I'd better not say anymore or Madmagna will have my guts for garters.
