Hi All,
My poor TR -Auto that i have recently purchased has reverse issues, when i put it into reverse from park about 60% of the time, it jumps and makes a loud banging noise! I have noticed that it happens in my driveway which is on a slight slope, but also happens on the flat too. I really dont like it and i cannot avoid reversing all the time!
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated ~Ariel

It sounds like you have something that will most likely need to be fixed in the not too distant future, however try doing the following when you park:
Pull the handbrak up
put car into neutral
let go of the foot brake
then move into park.
This helped my tr auto when it was on its way out, it wont solve the problem, but should help reduce the noises. Mine was far worse on hills also, worth a try.

could be a faulty kickdown solenoid
or a kickdown band adjustment needed
oil pump broken
what are the other gear changes like?
recheck the fluid level

Hi Its Ariel (Formerly Known as Allan - He can have his account back now)
Thx for the heads up on the fuel cap , i got one for $5. BUT, the problem is, and i find it amusing how these things happen, well now when i change gears the kickdown seems to not want to work and i had to take my foot off acelerator to change gears, i tried to baby it home, that didnt work, and now she is banging when changing most gears?? I checked trans fluid and that is full (Hot) Any ideas please?

"Kickdown" is when you are in a high gear, then accelerate hard and the auto changes down a gear or two by itself. That's not what yours is doing.
Check the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) on the throttle body. It tells the rest of the car how much throttle you have on, and when it stuffs up you get rough shifts. A good place to start anyway.

My pleasure fellas! Check some of the other plugs too. The one on the distributor can cause starting problems if it corrodes, and the MAF plug can lead to rough running.
