Hey guys today my sump got a nice little dent in it, and when i say little, its really not little.

Now i would like to know if the car is still alright to drive until i can get to the wreckers? (assuming they have a sump for me.)

Pics of damage below.

if your oil pressure light isnt coming on and your not loosing any oil or hearing unusual rattling or tapping (after a very big and thourough inspection) you should be able to drive it, mine has a similar size dint and its been sweet for 100,000 k's.

as long as your not leaking oil youll be fine man. mine is in way worse condition and its sweet. typical lowered cars ay lol

looks like you have a oil leak from somewhere else iswell. best thing to do is degrease the engine and recheck see where the oils coming from

Yea i know where its leaking from, but its not leaking enough to register on the dipstick so im happy.

Thanks guys but i will probally replace it when i get a chance.

On another note if i had a trolley jack and wanted to lift both my front wheels of the ground to do a wheel rotation where would i place the jack?

Do replace it but in the mean time, if you have oil pressure and is not gushing out it is fine, I have seen far worse

Oops! Too late! Try using the proper spot, in the middle at the front. The middle cross member has a flat area just for that purpose. Anywhere else will bent something. lol I start mine off, then release the handbrake so the car can roll forward as it lifts. On a smooth surface, the jack would roll under the car as it lifts, but on my driveway it can't move, not smooth enough and the jack tried to tip over. Just something to look for. Use axle stands too, even if you are just changing wheels.

I did but its not dead center so the car lifted unevenly.

It will still get both wheels off the ground.

are your tyres directional?

use axle stands dont just rely on the jack iv seen cars fall off jacks and trap people underneath. either jack it up it the centre or do 1 side at a time but always use a axle stand.
