Hi
I've got an issue with my Magna in the horn department.
It had been dying for around 2 very funny months (impossible to keep off it with the noise it made)
but it's now time to replace as it's completely dead.
My question. I'm assuming the magna is only a single peice horn judging by the whimper it gives off when used. Is it possible/practical to replace the current horn with say..... a dual Ford horn? or Subaru Liberty horn? just something that doesn't sounds like a 6 yo girls floral basket bike
Has anyone changed their horn over? just wondering how difficult it could be
Cheers,
Sparky

hella fanfare horns are pretty good.... i had some on my proton, i relayed them using 5mm wire to squeeze every last volt into them, and placed them at opposite sides of the engine bay (improved resonance).
currently i have some chrome stebels on the magna (on std wiring).... sound better but im still wanting
My friend used to have a 1953 Morris 1000 - the horn on that thing was like a truck and physically it was like a huge snail (or half a big turbo).
If it wasn't the fact that the Morrie had positive earth, we would have used that horn in the next car.
I also had air horns which were good, at least while the little air compressor worked - it seemed to die after just 6 months. What are the legalities for air horns? does any know if it's an option???

Get the 380 horn pair.
Not expensive.
Second horn can be bolted on top of the RH engine mount casting.
Took me about 20 minutes to change over.

My old Magna had both a VE Commodore and BF Falcon horn. It really is just wiring.
.....get a train horn. :ninja:

might be a problem in the steering wheel mecahnism....
I first thought that was the case, but tested it by trying to lock the car with the door open..... no 2 beeps
I might checkout the 380 horn, as long as it's got some depth to it.... i can't exactly remember ever hearing one

The best horns I ever had on a car were off a 1970 toyota crown, people used to crap their pants when they heard it

First chance I've had to actually get under the hood to have a look, the current U/S horn is connected via a single cable
I'm assuming the dual horns piggy back together? so the single cable powers both horns?
I've heard noise about needing relays if you dont have a verada (which comes from factory with duals)... or was this only the case on Pre 3rd gen models?
I've got a TW ES

So you can add another horn like a verada as it has the same wiring as the stock magna wiring :) I provided a wiring diagram from TL/TW service manual. Unlike second gen don't which is annoying but I got a plan. Horn have one wire setup as the body of the horn is earth and the single terminal is positive :)

Back to this old chestnut... sorry :(
I've installed a high tone 380 horn where the original was (drivers side next to the washer bottle) and it works well.... sounds like a clown horn with only 1 working though
Where do Mitsubishi put the 2nd horn on the veradas?? as I'm trying to locate the factory wiring which should be sitting there doing nothing?
or do I have to tap into the original wire next to the washer bottle? kind of a hack and cut job?
anyone with TL/TW veradas who knows where their 2nd horn is?

Just bung it beside the hi tone horn and tap into the postive wire :)
