after i got back my verada from the panel beaters (only minor damage) i have noticed that there is major overspray on the bonnet. My car is white and the overspray is a real dark grey blue colour and it is quite noticeable, it feels like sandpaper when i glide my hand over it. Anyways another problem is that the rear bumper had to be resprayed when i backed into a pole and it has servere bubbles in it... he said that it was because there was too much siliconed based polish on it and that panel beaters hate polish because they cant respray them properly.. (i thought that they would have sanded it back - OBVIOUSLY NOT)... The guy said that if i wasnt happy with it he would rub it right back and spray it again. I didnt even bother taking it home and i told him to re-do it... anyways the bumper is fine and i also complained about the overspray and he sed that there is nothing he can do and that a light polish will get it off... Anyway thats my problem... IT WONT COME OFF!!! so does anyone know how i can get it off without damaging my paintwork?? i was thinking about taking it to the detailers and having it cut n polished but that would meen that it would be covered in swirl marks... has anyone had this problem before?? any help would be appreciated...
Thanks guyz

my point is if your a paying customer and he gets overspray on your car while its in there, HE HAS TO FIX IT, not you. what a c*ck sucker tellin you theres nothin he can do about it!!! and with the rear bar if he doesn't prepare the area correctly before respray an it f*cks up, he has to do it again............. FREE OF CHARGE!   ooooooooooo makes me so angry, if that had happened to me i would tell him to fix it straight away free of charge(only pay for the original quote, not his f*ckups) if he doesn't, take him to small claims..................GGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RR haha

time to calm down :D

P.S- print this out an read it to him word for word

Why would a cut and polish cover it in swirl marks?

Only someone who has never polished before leaves swirl marks ;)

thats not really the point though is it, why is there overspray on the car in the first place?

i paid cash for the repairs coz it wasnt worth an insurance claim and he fixed the back bar free of charge (so he should aswell) and he said when i picked it up that he couldnt do anything about the overspray and nocked 50$ off.. WOAH!! (500 down to 450) and he sed that if u polish it it will come off... it didnt so i took it to the detailers to see if they could get it off and they could but it would have to be a heavy cut and polish and it would leave swirl marks becuase the heavy cut and polish is like a fine grade sandpaper... but if i want it off looks like the cut n polish is the only way to go

i went back after being to the detailer and told him and he said i knocked $50 off (which is enough just to have the bonnet cut n polished) so he is actually payin for it to get removed but i am still pissed off for the fact that it shouldnt be there in the first place... so i will book it in tomoro to get cut n polished and the $50 he knocked off will pay for it... but i will never bee takin my car back to him ( even worse, someone told me that he has been shut down twice for tax fraud...) so he shouldnt be running a business.... A#SEHOLE!!!

You should have taken it to the small claims tribunal.. They would sort it all out.

Question, when it comes to small claims tribunal, you can choose to represent yourself can't you. Its for claims under $5000 right?

You always have the option of representing yourself. Although, i dont think it a wise move.

In WA, its $6k. You can't be represented by anyone with a legal qualification (ie. no lawyers) unless both parties agree and the tribunal thinks it won't be unfair.

It costs about $30 to file a claim and they give you all the papers.

Could always get a legal opinion from a lawyer as to what needs to be presented during the hearing and then attend the tribunal yourself. If doing it yourself, be methodical, write out everything in advance as to how you will tell your 'story'.

thanks for your help.... the panel beater knows that i wont be going back to him and he knows that i wont be recommending him to ANYONE!! got the overspray off.... Crystal Cleaning and $45 for them to cut and polish the bonnet... good as new... now another problem.. stone chip and k'a'rcher pressure washer = no paint left on front bumper and ive found a really good panel beater to fix it for only 80 bux to repaint the whole bumper... i tell ya wot... trying to keep a nice car nice is hard work lol

Glad to hear you got it sorted out. That happened to me, but fortunately I noticed in the panel shop when I went to pick it up. The finish looked like the surface of an orange. I said "you didn't expect me not to notice that did you?" I said you can fix it now then and I will wait ok... I waited in their waiting room while they rushed around fixing it. I later found out that the paint job was crap regardless, and fortunately (?) my last accident happened in the same place and all the panels were painted well this time. I thought you would like to know this! :D

Unless it's really bad overspray it will come off with a clay pad. Most panel beaters should have them and it doesn't effect the paint at all

If it's overspray it will come off with prepsol. Go to any shop that stocks automotive detailing products (Autobarn maybe?) and ask for it.

If they don't have it/know of it PM me and I'll see what I can do for you

disregard the fact that he gave u $50 off, do you have a recipt for the work done? if you do then considering that you now know he's a shonk take him to the small claims tribunial anyway. you should be able to get him to compensate you for the cut and polish and your time running around to fix his stuff up.
