Maybe call up a few wreckers pretending to buy one and ask how much it weighs so you can get a quote? They'd prob have a idea how much they'd weigh

At a rough guess 250 Kg for the engine (if complete) and another 100 Kg for the trans, if you want to do some rough shipping costing. It will need to be on a pallete and crated so a forklift can pick it up. Crating and shipping will cost a fair bit. Ring a transport/shipping place, they will give you more accurate figures on weight and $.

my guess is 210kg for the 24v 6G72 , i bought one out of adelaide and the con note said 210. not sure about the trans , sorry. as said above it needs to be strapped to a pallet or skid to make it transportable by road.

Sounds about right. Figure 80 to 100 for the trans, so about 300 Kg all up. Make sure all fluids are drained too, they don't like leaking cargo. lol

I'd say trans will be at least 100kgs. SST from an Evo 10 is 99.5kgs.

Given that I can pick up a 4sp Auto myself means that they are well under 100kg, I am not that strong a person lol

I would allow about 250 for the lot but in hind sight, most of the time by the time you get your measurements and cube it up, it will allow for around 300+kg so you will be fine

Actually, now that I think about it, I remember buying that 4 speed auto with Keith and lifting it off the ute myself and putting it on the stands we made for it. So yeah, it's probably closer to 60-80kgs for just the transmission.

Wonder if it would fit in the boot if you take the spare out? Or is plonking 200kg in the boot insane?

I've carried a Sigma engine in the back of a Sigma station wagon with no problems and carried 100 bricks @ 2 Kg each in a Sigma sedan boot. Might be hard on the rear suspension though. Thought how you would get it in or out? Would the bootlid even close?

A trailer would be a better option. And I thought it was engine+ gearbox tied nicely to a pallet?

^^ not so insane then. Ta.

It's your car. I would definitely use a trailer, with it tied down well.

lol hire a ute cost bugger all vs replacing all your stuff suppension from overloading you car hmm that a tuff choice.......

There is no way in hell that a 6G engine weighs 200kg ffs, Wiki is known for being wrong often

My engine stand would not take 200kg and not would I be able to rotate the engine let alone also be able to drag them around the floor either.

If you can get it into the boot of a third gen good luck, a Wagon would take the weight but be warned, the timber spare wheel cover may not like it much

Sounds a bit too desperate, putting it into the boot. Trailer or ute definitely better ideas. Maybe if the engine was in bits you could put the block in the boot and heads on the passenger front floor?
